Hello everybody, this might sound like a bit of a dumb question but I'm having a go at building a station building from scratch,  loosely based on Hannington. Does anyone know where I could get some suitable windows to aid my construction?

Many thanks

Rob.

Ratio Items 309 and 310 might be a good place to start.

Then there's Model Scenery supplies and York Model Makers https://yorkmodelrail.com/product-category/n-scale/

There's probably lots more if you search the Internet.

What John says.
Seems that 310 the domestic windows will be the best option.

If you cut away the horizontal glazing bar from the smallest windows it should look fine.

Lovely little station!

Hi Rob,

I have just finished building a Ratio station kit for a friend

https://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=57896.0

and it has brass etched windows. I did not know they sold window etches separately.

Brass etch windows are great for detailing, but need special care in painting, or the paint can flake off.

I washed the etch first with a toothbrush and kitchen cleaner ( being careful not to bend the glazing bars) and primed them with a spray primer like Halfords. A couple of light sprays are better than one thick globby coat. Then all was fine.

I have had windows from York modelmaking. The detail is excellent .... I had the church windows .... and they do take paint better.

On a side note, the service from Buffers was excellent  :D

Hope this helps

All best wishes

Kevin

Hi Rob,

I'm not sure what Hannington station and its window frames look like as you haven't provided a photo and there's not much on Google images either but you could have a look at the Scalescenes 'Scaleglaze' option  ( https://scalescenes.com/scaleglaze/ ) and see if any of their offerings match your requirements?

Regards
Hector
