I received the following email today, but unfortunately I'm not feeling very charitable today :smiley-laughing:
Stay sharp folks.

"Dear Friend.,

Salaam Alaikoum., My name is Col. Hussein Harmush, an army officer from Syria Arab Republic but I am presently staying in a REF-UGEE camp here in Manila city of Philippines with my wife and my children after our lucky escape from Syria some years ago. This is as a result of the ongoing bloody civil war in my country Syria which has killed thousands of innocent civilians including women and children over the last few years.

Please I would like to discuss a very important and urgent business proposal with you involving a total sum of US$ 5,000,000.00. (Five Million U.S Dollars Only) with a Bank in London only if you can permit me by responding back to this message as soon as possible. Inshallah i need your honest assistance in transferring this total funds to your Bank account so that i will travel to your country with my family in order to meet you for onward investment of this total funds through your help.

I will be giving you a more complete details about this transaction and thank you very much for your understanding as i look forward to receive your message soonest. May Allah bless you with his best.

Col. Hussein Harmush.
Philippines Refugee Camp."
Cheers, Trev.

It's been a while since I've seen one of those.

I think you are very lucky. It's usually 1 or 2 million, although i was offered 1 million out of a 6 million hoard once :)

guest311

don't see anything suspicious there.

an ex Syrian army officer has $5,000,000 which was possibly his back pay, and now has it with him in the Philippines, which would be the nearest place to go with his family to avoid the civil war !

so just be helpful, send him your bank details, and he will transfer the $5M to your account...

or

TAKE EVERY LAST PENNY YOU HAVE

:hmmm: :hmmm:

on second thoughts, I'd rather trust HB in the middle of a squirrel community  :smiley-laughing:

guest311

a quick discussion with HB, and he is more than happy to assist with the investment of this $5M ...

in pigs ears, white hide chews, bonios, dental chews etc :smiley-laughing:

I'm sure those adverts arise because of where you have been previously.
That's the best way I know of tracking where my wife has been internet shopping :)
Log onto EBay and look at the adverts :)

dear friends,
due to the voracious appetite of my husky HB for things like hide chews, pigs ears, hide rolls etc, I find I an financially embarrassed.

if you are willing to help both myself and my starving husky, please make donations to

conning-:censored: (changed by forum)@paypal .com.
all donations will be used to enable HB to live to the standard he has become accustomed to.

Had one yesterday supposedly from the DVLA saying my payment for my car tax had been declined as there wasn't enough money on my debit card and that I should use a credit card instead.
3 cars in the family all taxes paid in full 2 in March and 1 in December.
I suppose if one person clicks on the link and follows the instructions then it could be classed as a result for the scammer

Had one recently telling me my TV license payment had been refused. We pay cash onto a card when we go shopping. Nice try though as I haven't had one of those before.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

chrism

I must have had thousands over the years telling me there's a problem with my bank account and that I need to log in to correct it - incredibly, of them all, I've only ever actually had one purporting to be from a bank with which I have an account.

The funniest were a couple I had where the scammer had obviously only just got the software to do it - because I had one from British Gas saying there was a problem with my Virgin Media account and, yes you've guessed it, another from Virgin Media telling me about a problem with my British Gas account  :laugh3:
