For one of those unexplained reasons I woke at 04.30 this morning thinking about the above late 60s TV show. Very avant garde with Monty Python being formed just a few months later. David Jason (Captain Fantastic) and Denise Coffey (Mrs Black - the most evil woman in the world) featured along with Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and there was always a toon or two from Viv Stanshall and the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Terry Gilliam also contributed some of his animations.
Supposedly a childrens TV programme, like Tiswas the main audience were young adults.
Just wonderful stuff..................but why did I wake with it on my mind??

Anyone else have fond memories of it?

Yep, a good show! It gave me a love of many of the participants that has stuck to this day. And the Bonzos too!

I vaguely remember seeing it once or twice - my older brothers watched it. The Bonzos stuck in my mind though, so when I saw a compilation album a decade or so later I had to get it. And then I had to get everything else of theirs. And then get it all again on CD.

I bought the single 'I'm the urban spaceman' in 1969.

Saw them at Sunderland Empire in the same year when they were support act for Keith Emerson and the Nice.

I used to watch it as a kid and I'm sure it played a large part in shaping what passes for my sense of humour these days

I've got a DVD of it, David Jason looks barely out of short trousers!

Remember the series well, even managed to get a DVD of the series, mainly for the episode of 'Captain Fantastic' which was filmed at Forest Row station soon after it had closed. I had wondered for years where it was  One of the 'stills' with David Jason features on the Disused station site at http://www.disused-stations.org.uk/f/forest_row/index.shtml
