As I've only been venturing out once a week for shopping I've not bothered with a face mask but it looks as if, maybe, I'll be able to get back in the gym around end of July so............
Can anyone recommend a source of reasonably price, comfortable and washable face masks? Please don't provide links to any source if you haven't personally tried them the product and felt OK with them.

Yeah, Chemist Warehouse, NSW.

I was just about to head to the bowlo this afternoon when my wife got a phone call from her sister who was a nurse, and suddenly insisted I drive her into town to get masks at above establishment.

But at the same time

;)

I know your query is genuine.  :beers:

Hi NPN,

Sorry for mini hijack as I cant help but would also be interested in any sources of a proper mask from others.

I've been to hospital 5 times recently in hospital transport and only on one occasion, on the return journey, had to wear one  :confused2:, which I was given. I've got physio appointments in another hospital starting next week and I wont be admitted without one. They said the old one I had 'will do' but I can't find it .

Cheers, weave  :beers:

Have bought some from Lidl & Morrisons which seem to do the job.
No doubt available at other shops.

I made one from an old T-shirt (no sewing, just folding and cutting, there's a video somewhere showing how to do it). It's not particularly comfortable but it does the job. I only wear it for the weekly food shopping. I did need to make it larger than the instructions said, because I've got a larger than average head.

The Q

These days I just wander around Amazon to get thing's like that.
Not that I've bought any in ages, I have two half face rubber  and removeable filter, masks for sanding the boat (especially the antifouling you don't want to breath that in).
Stacks lesser filter masks for general use round the house. and Now the company I work for is issuing free, those light blue face mask that look like hospital ones.

got some from our local pharmacy, Day Lewis, last time I collected SWMBO repeat prescription.
the blue hospital type, five for £3.

not sure they wash,

Surgical masks are good but you've got to remember that they're single use. If you take them off or pull them down them it's bin time. Not sure they'd be any good for the gym because as soon as they get damp they need to be binned too.
It's counter intuitive but washable cloth face coverings are a better bet generally.
I've got a couple of these

Oh, I do like those :claphappy:

Indeed.  At last some I wouldn't feel self-conscious wearing

Try searching online for "Neck Gaiter".  Probably available in person with sporting goods (e.g. fishing) or where they sell motorcycle accessories.  Look for the thin synthetic ones, not the merino wool ones  .  I got one in woodland camo pattern from a hunting place - fairly comfortable in 35C weather and easy to pull up or down as needed.  Lots of patterns and solid colours available (including death heads if you really want to scare people  >:D )

The advice in the UK is for triple layer fabric.

The UK guidance is actually for a face covering and specifically uses examples of a scarf or bandana: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering/how-to-wear-and-make-a-cloth-face-covering

To confuse matters slightly the example given of how to make your own is a double layer, nevertheless the point is that any face covering catches a fair proportion of droplets that you might emit.

Mrs H ordered a multipack of those neck gaiter types which we have been using on the tube and sticking in the wash after each use.
