Like Les Dawson playing the piano badly, you really have to be able to play the instrument well in order to play it badly, although I do wonder if that applied to the Portsmouth Sinfonia :-\

Hi Philip,

Excellent. Thanks for that. Brought back memories of why I was banned by my father from EVER practising the recorder while he was in the house  ;D . My mother, on the other hand, tried to encourage me. The poor thing  :(.

Cheers weave  :beers:

I wondered where that noise was coming from last week.
The SW gale blew it 20 miles up the road!
Great stuff though and Merry Christmas.

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

By far the best playing the piano badly was the great Eric Morecambe with "Andrew Preview".

"You're playing all the wrong notes."
"I'm playing all the right notes - but not necessarily in the right order."

Would have been better blowing through a Betamax instead of a VHS recorder. :o
To be called pompous and arrogant - hell of a come down.
I tried so hard to be snobbish and haughty.

I clicked the link, turned on the volume on my iPad, and the immediate result was:

Wife (loudly):  "Oh my God! What's that! That's awful! Turn it off at once!" :o

To ensure I still get a visit from Santa this year, I complied.

Merry Christmas.  :D

It's made me want to dig mine out and have a play!

Had to get one in high school. A wood one, not a crap plastic one. It was a quality brand, but the name escapes me.

I vaguely knew one of the musicians involved in the Portsmouth Sinfonia in the 80s as he was a college lecturer, won't disclose his name.

I remember in the 1960s all the kids had Dolmetsch recorders.

Was he one of Harold Wilson's friends ?
