Not everyone's favourite Bond but I thought he did quite well considering
the jokey plots in some of his movies (not his fault).

He was the definitive saint

Sorry but James bond was supposed to be a debenare English man-not a rough arsed Scotland or a Australian -he fitted the bill exactly -Daniel Craig replaced him -Pierce Brosnan   came close -and Timothy Dalton was a fail -R.I.P Rodger for making me believe a car could swim !😇
Regards
Neil

When I was young, (a teenager), my Mum was a dressmaker and on one occasion she asked me to deliver a dress she had made. I knocked on the ladies door and it was answered by 'The Saint' - Roger Moore  :o . He was so nice to me and came across as a very nice man. I have followed his career ever since. At one time I owned a Volvo P240, the same as The saint drove, although mine was red. I thought he was a very good James Bond, even though it was a bit 'tongue in cheek' at times, but he could play the serious parts, 'Gold' springs to mind. RIP Roger.
David.
I used to be indecisive - now I'm not - I don't think.
If a friend seems distant, catch up with them.

Not my favourite Bond, but a genuinely nice bloke (who got to drive some seriously great cars)
So long, Roger :(

According to the Ian Fleming books, Bond was Scottish.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

Being pedantic; in the earliest books his antecedents were (probably deliberately) vague...
It was only much later in a supposed biography (written by someone other than Ian Fleming) that it was revealed his father was Scottish and his mother Swiss...

My name is Bond....James Bond!

Yeah, not my favourite Bond either, but as the OP says, many of those scripts were pretty much rubbish.

I did enjoy the Saint, though. Had the Dinky model of the car. Or was it Corgi.
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

A very good summing up all round , everyone has their
favourite Bond . but I think he did us proud,  ultimate
role against Alan Rickman in Die Hard Another Day !

That's a  bit of whimsy in the past few sad days.
