The Turned Out All Right in the End Thread

There's an Angry Thread and a Happy Thread. This one is for when you start out angry, but end up happy.

I bought a USB wireless mouse from Wilkinsons for my missuses new laptop. Got it home, put the batteries in, not a sign of life. Tried it on two other computers, put four different sets of batteries in it. Still nothing.
Took it back today and exchanged it for a new one. Worked first time.

Popped into 'The Comic Book Store' while I was there as I thought I might as well get my money's worth from the bus fare and bought myself a couple of William Hartnell Dr.Who DVDs.

Started off angry, ended up happy.

I had a drink in my hand and i drank it

ok i will be good now, I had a new tv on order and was arranged to be delivered just before christmas all was arrange for my holidays to start so i would be in for the delivery i waited and i waited and nothing arrived.
so the next day i called to complain, they wasted my time and had taken a day off work to wait in, they were very nice to give me a £20 credit to there store and we arrange another day for delivery, new years eve!

Bang Bang on the door at 10am my new tv had arrived

i sorted all the paper work and off the delivery guys went i started to unpack the box thinking this is a very big box for a 32 inch tv but hey i guess its boxed to travel...
I get to the main box to discover i have a 50 inch tv box maybe with my 32inch tv in and the box was just a tease.

No i had a 50inch tv so i did the honest thing and called them to say they had made a mistake.

It took about half hour for them to get me to the right person who happly said my tv was no loner in stock and that i could keep the 50inch as a good will but dont tell anybody!!

So i now have a 50inch tv in my front room ! BEST DAY EVER!!!

So all turned out well

Sounds like a fantastic deal.

But as I'm a pessimist by trade

are you still covered if it breaks down?

I couldn't get a 50" telly in my living room so I knocked a hole in the neighbours wall, and now I can watch 32" of it

What does it say the telly is on the paperwork? It seems a great deal, but if you were extremely unlucky and it broke down in the next week or so, would they repair or replace it? If it say's 32" on the paperwork they could wash their hands of the whole thing.

The paperwork says 32" tv..... but i also have the docs that were in with the 50" they only say thanks for buying from said company but its a start.

im going to call and ask as i also need paper work for the insurance side of things.
I wish i had my 32" tv now

If they drop off the 32" instead just let me know and I'll pick up the 50" from you as you're not too far away. I'm not worried about the paperwork

I was just firing up the old PC when the missus came in and said "The fridge is not working." Oh great I thought, more expense, just what I need.
I go into the kitchen. First thing I thought of was to check that the socket hadn't been turned off by accident. All the switches are behind the microwave I think. "No", the missus says, that's just the microwave there.
Ok, next thing to do is check the consumer unit to see if anything has tripped. Nope, they're all on.
Right, check the fuse in the fridge plug. Get the missus to take off all her junk off the top. Get big strapping son to pull fridge out. Find spare plug with 13amp fuse. Move 80 million things to get to my tool box. (Women have this idea that tool boxes can be hidden under 80 million things because a toolbox isn't shoes and therefore should be out of sight.)
Change fuse in fridge plug. Still no life in fridge. (Thinks, how and where am I going to get a new fridge before everything is defrosted.)
Next, check that socket is actually working. Go get electric razor that I know works so that I can check socket.
Suddenly, boy shouts from kitchen. "It's working!"
Me, "What, where, how?

"
Son says, "The socket was switched off behind the microwave."
Me, "How did that happen?"
Missus, "Oh, I tilted up the microwave to clean under it. I must have knocked the switch off."
Remember how at the start I said that was the very thing I was going to check, but the missus said no?
So, you could say it turned out all right in the end and I've saved £300.00+.
The moral of this tale is, don't believe what you're told a problem is and always check for yourself.
Or, Wimmin, you can't live with 'em and you can't live with 'em.

My car is due for service this month, and expecting the usual £250+ bill for wiping grease on the seat, etc. Found out today that Citroen are doing fixed price servicing through their dealerships for £99 short service (which is all it needs) or £199 for full service. Will have some spare money to spend on trains - result.

I agree with you Poliss - take no one's word for it... I remember my ex-wife's nanna needing something done to a table lamp. Don't worry says she, it's all unplugged. 240V and a tingly right arm later I discovered that she had unplugged the TV not the lamp.
