Just got mine (along with my presubscription reminder). Seems to get thicker each issue which is nice and great to see the Juliaberg layout won an award. Also nice to see the NGF Coach on the centre page spread of Deansmoor.

Usual high standard we're getting used to under the current editor's stewardship.

One grumble though... he uses the phrase "shake the box and fall together" to describe modern kits in his article on the (Bulleid/Raworth) Class 70 electric loco. I dislike that phrase enormously. Even a simple kit is, I submit, a challenge for someone lacking experience, and doing justice to even a simple kit requires patience and the development of important new skills.

But apart from that, it's an excellent article. It's also, as far as I can tell, the only article by the editor. All the others are by different authors and cover a huge range of subjects. So those who feared the Journal was becoming monotonous in its authorship need not worry! Lots to make everyone happy here.

Definite thumbs up from me!

there is mention of the World Wide Group annual show, and members are directed to the WWG website - no mention there!!

they obviously want to keep it secret from NGSJ readers!

I find graham some time abrasive some times abnoxious but definitely more talented and a better editor and modeller than I could hope to be . I also believe his heart is in the right place and he wishes to encourage us all to be what we can be

I had a flick through my copy as a bed time read, overall it was pretty good, plenty of diverse content

Some of the photo reproduction did seem to be a bit hazy though to me.

I received my copy today and a quick look through showed some good articles. The standard has definitely improved since Graham took over, the last edition I found was really good. I am slightly worried my Model Rail magazine has not turned up, probably gone to the wrong house. My normal postman is brilliant but when he is off sometimes the replacement I think needs glasses. We have received wrong mail so there is a good chance someone has mine.

I totally agree. I feel that Grahame is an exceptionally gifted modeller and his layouts definitely prove that point. I also feel that his heart is in the right place and his contribution to N Gauge modelling and its advancement is without question.
Ive been a society member for many years now and the only criticism I have personally is sometimes (as said) is his lack of people skills.

, and yes in the past I have been a very vocal critic of Grahame (not personal by the way) and the way he goes about things (im referring to attitude and demeanour at shows) but im sure he will take these comments as they are and work on it...........
Anyhow, life is too short, especially to fall out with people. Best wishes to Grahame and I hope he continues to advance the hobby but at the same time listen to feedback. Im sure he will.

Morning all,

Anyone else notice the rather large mistake in the current issue? I've heard of The Great Central Railway based in Loughborough, but the Grand Central Railway?!?! May struggle to hold an exhibition on an orange/black HST!!

Couldn't do that in Bealman's college days!
