I am quite surprised that the forthcoming referendum on whether Britain votes to stay in the EU or come out, has not been mentioned on this paticular Forum (as far as I am aware).

It is a current "hot" topic on several other Forums I use, and there is a widespread difference of opinons and a number of polls on the subject as to how people will vote.

It affects all "Brits" - both those who live in the U.K. and ex-Pats like myself.
Should there not be a debate on here about it?

No - I can see articles about the EU and referendum on news websites and in the papers - I'm not particularly keen to have my hobby time invaded by it as well.

Section I.
We don't discuss politics on a model railway forum. Sorry
I can just detect the mods hovering with their 'death to politics' key...  :D

No doubt.

FWIW, I can't make up my mind. I'm finding it hard choosing setting my frustrations with the idiocy of the EU against the costs to the UK of pulling out.

My view is, this referendum is one of the most fundamental decisions we will make for many years. In a way it is the responsibility of all of us who can vote to thoroughly research and make an informed personal decision; the information is out there and we are all just as capable (perhaps even more so) as a politician to interpret it. Both 'in' and 'out' camps will make outlandish and in some cases misleading statements; fuelled by a polarised media.

Take the time, do the research.

As the mods seem to be asleep my penniworth is that I don't trust the politicians, I don't trust Brussels beaurocrats and my heart says ditch the EU. We may, possibly, have problems in the short term. Long term we are bound to prevail.
Where is that Sprintex chappie by the way - He's asleep on the job I reckon??

Now that is a very important question I hadn't considered. Could be a deal maker...

I didn't know Angela Merkel was a member of the forum  :smiley-laughing:

I don't see this as an appropriate subject for the Forum especially given its divisive nature. But if people do want to rant about  'faceless' eurocrats (of which I am one), the Brussels/Berlin conspiracy, damn foreigners eating our swans, etc. I'm ready to throw in my twopenneth's worth (and more). So, over to the moderators...
