In Thin Lizzy's Whisky in the Jar I thought it was the 'Clock and Carry mountains'. In the Detroit Spinners Ghetto Child I thought they sang 'life aint so easy when you're a Dental Child'.

A number of years ago when I used to listen to radio 1,Mark and Lard did the afternoon show.On rop of all the daft but hilarious stuff such as One Man and his Frog,they also used to title songs as they sounded lyrically.One such example that comes to mind is Destiny's Child's song I'm a Surviver.Mark and Lard called it I'm a Bus Driver,and the lyrics on the song do sound like what Mark and Lard said.I used to find this quite funny at the time,although the song is terrible.

I always found a lot of the stuff Mark and Lard did on radio was a bit daft,then I went to see The Shirehorses at Sheffield University Students Union.This elwvated their status to me as being the funniest dj's on radio at the time.If anyone can get old of one of the cd's they did,I promise you won't stop laughing till its finished.They parody such songs as You're Gorgeous by Baby Bird,some Status Quo stuff which they managed to muck up the rhythm section halfway through and lots of other stuff.There's two cd's that I know of,Our Kid Eh is one,the other I can't remember off the top of my head.

I'm sure there are loads of songs that do sound different to what is on the lyric sheet.

I used to work in a classic rock covers bans a few years ago and found the singer used to sing the wrong words on Journey's Don't Stop Believin.Mad but true.

I have The Shirehorses album on tape - still funny now!

There used to be a regular spot on Radio 1 on a thursday evening called the Top 10 Twisted Lyrics. Favourites were "It's A Hard Egg" (It's A Heartache) by Bonnie Tyler, Phil Collins "Against All Odds" with the lyric "we shared the laughter and the pain, and even shared the cheese" (shared the tears actually)

As a vocalist guitar player in a country rock band I use the internet to find lyrics to lots of songs but unless you know where to look for the original lyrics you will find all sorts of interpretations, I have also noticed when people add the chords to the words they can be way out. I guess we all hear things in a different way.

I'm sure I remember Kenny Rogers singing about "400 children and a crock in the field" but I think it was actually "4 hungry children and a crop in the field". Dicky memory won't bring me the song title though

The song is called Loose Wheel. Here's the start of the chorus. "You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel."

My biggest mistake was a Sex Pistols song called Bodies. I got the word "brat" mixed up with "blacks". If you know the lyrics you'll totally understand why I can't post it on here.

Can't remember the name of the track but it's by the police, i'd guess it's 'so lonely'
