Hello all.
First of all, I wish you a happy new year ! All the best and a lot of "small trains".  :beers:

While surfing Hattons' web site, I've discovered a full set of books from Peco and I'm wondering whether they are interesting or not.

First, a set of booklets about scenery:
- SYH12, Modelling Water
- SYH13, Modelling the Landscape
- SYH14, Detailing the Landscape
- SYH15, Adding the Background
- SYH16, Creating the Backscene
Are they helpful? Are some more interesting than others?

Second, a set of booklets about track plans:
- IN-1, Setrack N gauge planbook (25 plans)
- PB-3, 60 Plans for small locations
- PM-202, Track plans for layouts to suit all locations
I'm interested in small continuous-run layouts. So which ones are the most relevant for me?

Thanks by advance for your comments.

The one you didn't list here - PB-4 N Gauge Track Plans! (assuming you don't already have it).  Like all of CJF's plans, giving them a bit of extra space really helps.

IN-1 is the only N gauge track plan book I have a the moment so whilst I can't compare it to anything else it seems to cover the basics. most of the layouts are in a circuit (I'm not exactly an expert in model railway lingo so I'm assuming continuous run means a loop instead of a length of track),ranging from small to the perimeter of a large room.

All of the Modelling  range are good standbys for when you need to learn something newish and the Setrrack planbookthe others can be confusing because they are all aimed at 00 gauge.
A good all-round book is John Lamberts http://www.amazon.co.uk/Newcomers-Guide-Model-Railways-Step/dp/1857943295 which giges a wealth of hints/tips etc
