What's the most important (railway) thing you have lost?

Hi There,

I'm very disorganized, so I'm always losing things. Today I couldn't find my good wire cutters, but the most frustrating loss is my copy of "Railways in and around Bolton" by Bill Simpson. I know it's in the house somewhere but I can't find it.

How about every one else, what have you lost that's important?

Railway stuff only, please don't say "my virginity"

Two things I've lost. First one is a BR liveried class 37 diesel loco. I have lists of all my locos, all are accounted for except this one......only worth £70.....

Second thing but not as expensive but part of a set, I lost my 'Locomotives Illustrated class 47's' part 2 magazine.

Annoying because 1+2 form the set. The printer has long since sold out and people on eBay are holding what copies are left to ransom!

I occasionally lose a coupling spring to the carpet monster but again no biggy.

Part of my childhood 'Orribly Oversized collection appears to have gone AWOL at some point...

Oddly enough I was pleased earlier to have discovered something I was looking for a while back (some rolling stock detail parts) while searching for something else (unusually I found the something else too). The detail parts I'd actually put in a baggie and labelled correctly, then placed in a box of bits. Actually I should go and put them back with the actual stock before I forget again.

I lost all my OO stuff when I left home to go to college. Never saw it again.

And like greybeema, i lose my mojo once in a while.

Other than my mind, when I first started trainspotting aged around 8 years old, I obviously couldn't afford the Ian Allan books for recording numbers so just kept them in tatty notebooks. Needless to say by the time I could afford the I.A. books, several house moves decreed my old notebooks were never to be seen again :'(

A telephone from Coulsdon North Signal Box.  I still have the other, along with a load of plates off of the signal/point levers.  Very annoying.

Spot on - nearly - but it has to be smelly, oily, dirty and sooty steam that is the real loss!!
