That which I had never seen before.

Was doing some weed killing on front footpath.  Heard a high pitched humming from way down the hill.  Thought it was a well muffled motor bike or some such.  Couldn't see anything, humming getting louder but still nothing coming up the hill.  Louder still and moving fast up the hill.  Nowt to be seen?
Suddenly it was in front and up.  Looked up and there was a huge cloud of bees flying along the power lines, sort of a football shape about 1.5m round and about 4m long, moving at least 50kmh.  Last I saw and heard of them they were about 100m further up the hill, still flying along the wires.  Must have been a queen migrating.
AMAZING!

Last Tuesday myself and wife were in the back yard at 10pm trying to see the meteor shower.  In the distance behind some trees were a pair of lights, red and green, dancing about the sky but not independently.  Looked to be about 5km away, above the next crest of the hill but who could really tell how far.
They would jig about then suddenly move a fair distance then the same back again.  While doing the jig they were slowly moving toward the west.  Had a look through our binoculars and saw two slightly bigger lights but nothing else.  Initially I thought they may have been on a quadcopter,  someone out for some night flying but the duration was too long.  Then it clicked, perhaps a plane moving away from us and the lights affected by varying air density.
The only strange thing was, the stars in the same sky region were nice and steady. ???

Yes I think you are right, a mirage, where the mirage is travelling through more atmosphere than the starlight, so more twinkle

Was having lunch at an outside table in a small cafe the other day when heard a"buzzing" sound nearby in the air.

Looked up and round and saw it was a fair sized "drone" (too big for a toy one) hovering overhead before eventually it moved away.

Didn't know Amazon where now delivering to Tenerife that way, or was it an "armed forces" drone seeking out someone to "prey" on? Don't think it belonged to Hattons as my latest delivery came by the usual method, or has Santa now decided to deliver presents by drone?.

Seen any "drones" your way anyone?

I was on a coach in India in 2009 being driven in the dark in the middle of the countryside. So no lighting apart from the coach headlights. A red glow approached the coach at speed and I really thought we were going to crash into a stationary vehicle. As it turned out it was a camel pulling a cart and coming towards us on the wrong side of the road. The glow was from the camel's eyes! Our accomplished Sikh driver had obviously seen it many times before and we swished by without slowing down at all.

I live near to the major north/south flight path and often see aircraft moving about at night but this was an unusual light show and not in the normal bit of sky.  If I was given to flights of fancy (kangaroos loose in the top paddock), I would be screaming UFO/aliens.

Missed the meteor shower as the clouds closed in at 11pm and stayed there. Missed last years as well due to clouds. :'(

Me too :(
but I did catch a Leonid storm a few years back

I trust you noticed that I drew Orion   upsidedown    the right way up for you, although I got the proportion of his sword a little exagerated ( said the actress )

Eh ?!
a ) I have not got a clue wot you is on about
or b ) I am an impressionist not an artist :)

Umm,
Orion is the pattern of little dots upper right,
the red/green spot is the virtual image, the mirage, of the green/red paths from the object (aka UFO, there I done it !) below NinOz's horizon.
Sigh.

A similar effect arises in VHF radio comms. you can have a stable comms link to a partner in line-of-sight (within your radio horizon) with unstable fluctuating interference via tropo ducting from faraway lands.
My best has been 144MHz 2.5w hand held whip (shhh!) to Spain; I also did Italy but I think that was spE.
I think we are well off topic now, even bees in bonets ;)  !

I wonder if the drones had lost their Queen and were following a buzz of (on / in) the wire ?

I'll vote for (b)  :P

The bit I mainly refer to is the three dots at the bottom of Orion ... ie the top from the UK.

Is this supposed to be Meissa ?  As normally, that star isn't included on the stick figure in the UK ... the Yanks being different, of course.
