Selling stuff

Just my humble opinion, but I assume people that join this form do so to get information and hopefully contribute to it,so I think it would be nice if anything "N" gauge for sale could be offered to forum members first before going on ebay.

Personally I've bought several things from members here rather than looking on ebay.

I agree,with your comments,all the stuff I have either sold or swapped has been through this Forum  or others appropriate for the Item. As yet I have never sold anything on Ebay.

You are spot on Allen....
I find it a bit rich when people put links up to stuff they are selling on ebay without even offering the items for sale to members here first and expect us to fight it out with everyone else on e-bay.......
By all means sell your stuff on e-bay just dont put links to it on here......

I think it would be a bit undemocratic if we forced people to offer stuff for sale here first and we have to be as fair as we can with these things, we certainly could not make it a condition of membership - I think it is down to the individual and the way they view their participation in the forum.

Generally anyone who comes on and their first couple of posts are items for sale they get deleted, it is only polite to introduce yourself first at the very least.

The one advantage of using the forum for sale section is that there are no fees involved unlike ebay, but then again you may argue you have more legal protection with them, though that does not seem to put off many off our members selling on here - Dr Al has pretty much got through a shop full of rolling stock (I'm sure he has indeed made a generous donation though  )  and I have benefited from some stuff Etched Pixels was selling.

It is a facility the forum is happy to offer, and it is down to the individual how they utilise it.  It's like marmite, if you don't like it don't buy it, but it is not our place to make you eat it
