Over the last few weeks Yahoo Mail seems to be getting slower and slower.
Sometimes as I type a mail message I'm typing faster than the letters appear on screen and characters (or sometimes whole words) get missed out.
Is it just me or is Yahoo experiencing some problem?
Everything else appears to be behaving normally.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

Sorry, Martin, but apart from my Yahoo mail being spoofed a while ago I've not suffered any of the problems you've mentioned.

I have various snags with Yahoo mail, the mains two are:

  • Temporary loss of all contacts (scary this one!)
  • Slow to place stuff in Drafts

I too have been spoofed and several mates have had weird/rude stuff from 'me' via Russia and several African locations. Why can't these  :censored: spoofers get a decent hobby, like N gauge railways?

My Yahoo mail contact list was hacked a few weeks ago and several people, including members of this forum, received bogus emails supposedly from me.

Yeah.... I'm not real impressed.

Sounds like you may have been hacked! Basically the problem is not with Yahoo but more likely your computer, I was unsuspectingly infected last week which resulted quite a bit of malware being sent out to quite a few of my contacts. The initial symptoms being that my browser when logged onto Yahoo was slowing down.

The solution is to first find the infection by downloading ADW cleaner http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ Then run a scan. IMPORTANT! Once the program has completed its scan before selecting "CLEAN" be sure to check or uncheck any of the folders its going to delete, however if it has selected a folder up for deletion its worth checking that folder as there could well be a file placed there that you don't know about!

The next thing is to then change your mailbox password and setup the two-step verification for extra account security, This feature is very good as every time you log onto another pc or clean your cookies Yahoo will text you a new pin to log on.

Hope my advice resolves your problem.

I have not gone to those lengths, but have simply changed my password.

So far so good.

Dave - it's very easy to print out all your contacts and then delete them - which is what I did in an attempt to stop my friends/relatives being sent spam. Don't worry that it might be a pain as, as soon as you start to type someone's mail address, there is a pop up you can use to autofill. Once the mail has been sent I then open my contacts and delete again as, when you send a mail, Yahoo automatically adds that contact again ::)
Hope this helps

There has been a problem with Yahoo group emails not going to the inbox on Microsoft Outlook for ten days now. There have been many complaints on the Talktalk Comunity about it, as it appeared to be just Talktalk and its associated companies. The mail could be read on the Yahoo Groups web page, but not in Talktalk Mail. It now appears that other ISPs do have the same problems with Yahoo as well, but not to the extent that Talktalk has.

With my two experinces in the last 18 months, and reading all this, I think it's time I  pulled the plug on yahoo mail. Seems like there are major security problems.

Grateful for the contacts hint from Mick. May give that a go.

Meanwhile, I have created a gmail account for when I do reach the end of my tether - not that far to go!

For what its worth I changed my password only to discover the problem returned. I eventually found an alien folder in "My Documents" which now in hindsight I should have made at least a note of its details.

One other thing for those concerned about the risk of losing their hosted mailbox content, this piece of software is not only brilliant but free and creates a backup to a hard dive or disc.
