Mr PJ

I did email about the 25/3 three weeks prior to the poll, but was told it was too late to add on the agenda, and was given the same answer it would appear in 2016. That means it would be another year, plus maybe 2 years for Farish to release the loco. I am hoping that Farish have the business sense to realise that items such as a 24/1 (albeit of some interest personally) are not of such significance as the later body-style 25 to modellers.

I have cast my "votes".  Incl Stanier 262T, once a resident at Dumfries.  My regular vote for a K2 (if the Scottish version ), not to mention the odd Caley item, Jones Goods, a 77XXX std and a Clan , C15 to recreate the Ardlui push/pull etc.  And some Pd 1 and 2 LMS corridor coaches, and a 12 wheel restaurant.  Not expecting any of that in the near future, far too specific, so I will continue to kit bash and adapt RTR as I always have done etc.  For example, the NGS journal has shown us options for the Dapol M7.

I did of course find plenty of LNER items I would like including-

Thompson A2/3 and rebuilt P2 the A2/2
Raven B16
Gresley K2, K3, K4 and D49
Peppercorn K1
BR Sulzer 25/0
77xxx 3MT and Clan
odd ex- LNER coach types
20T coke hopper and Consett Iron Ore wagon.

Shame there was no NER Atlantic on the list..

All of the above would find employment on Hawthorn Dene, Rise Park or Croft Spa when ready.....

Well, that's just not good enough. Some fount of all knowledge you are!   ;)

Looking at the results, it is interesting that there is a lot of results quite close together at the top of the leader board. This probably reflects the diverse interests of modellers as there are no items that stand-out as being head-and-shoulders above the rest.

Several top items have been done fairly recently in 00. This suggests an element of tactical voting at play with people choosing to vote for items they feel have a more realistic chance of being produced.

The number of voters has climbed steadily year-on-year with more than at 10% increase over last year.

Part of the frustrating thing (from my perspective) looking at the results is just how much of the things that people want are already available as kits (particularly the post-steam era)!

I accept (reluctantly!) that some people don't want to build kits but it feels like such a wasted opportunity both for the kit producer and the modeller.

Cheers, Mike

Mr PJ

Hi,

I am just a bit baffled by the structure of this poll - if you look a little closer at the diesel results all is not as it seems.

With diesel loco's the Class 40 was announced early last year, but was still in the poll...

Metrovick Co-Bo's had 2 different versions in the poll (a minor difference concerning the type of windows), yet Class 21 and 29 were grouped together.

If you added the Co-Bo votes they would come out as a strong contender - although I guess that there was nothing to stop people voting for both versions? So all the figures are quite difficult to decipher and make some meaningfulness out of...

On the positive side it has given me some interesting ideas!  :D

I see the class 117/118 DMU was highly placed.  Hopefully that will encourage Bachmann to release the class 117 in the Graham Farish range.

As per the comment by Mike (red_death) about kits; as my confidence grows I'm going to try and build more kits.  I've got a Class 128 DPU (polled quite high in the DMU category) on the go.  Next year I'll have a go at some Collett Restaurant cars (top of the GWR coach poll).  If it all goes pear-shaped with the DPU I might not do the coaches.

I suppose I could have a go at a Class 117 kit too?

There will be a few surprises I'm sure for all of us, both pleasing and otherwise.

I have long felt that T.P.O. stock would be popular items to accompany the very nice Mk1 sorting vans from Farish.  Pre-B.R.  TPO stock would also prove fairly popular I'm sure.

I think I may have suggested TPO stock as a possible NGS project a couple of years back...but then we will all have our very own ideas of what we would like to see produced.

Nice to see the class 92 at the top of the list for N Gauge diesel and electric loco's and second in the overall list!!!!! Come on Revolution.
My 200 votes must have made a difference :D

Also a retooled 158 plus a 185 Desiro are up there with the leaders.

Interesting there's almost no interest in small industrial steam locos. Seems I'll have to keep resurecting decades old antiques for a bit longer!

I don't know.  The top two industrials outpolled such locos as the WD 2-10-0 and the 4P Compound.

On another front, could the higher poll for diesels than a lot of steam be a result in part of fewer classes available to vote for?

I can't help but think the results may have been skewed a bit by the omission of the class 25/3, 87 and 90. Along with the inclusion of the class 40 which has been announced but we are missing the split headcode box version which Farish may or may not produce.
