Ah, yes, well my Leuchers days were a long time ago (Hunters, Venoms, 222 Sq.). My dad was RAF, I was a brat.....

There, doesn't that feel better?

I still get Venoms and Vampires mixed up, can never remember which had twin booms.

I was about to chip in with "dont forget the Blackburn Beverly"
arghh ! old age doesnt come alone !!
"Armstrong Whitworth Argosy, twin boom transport " you'd have corrected me, well they are not vastly different in profile ,  lol! just as well that I googled first ;)

Blackburn is a company not often mentioned in reminiscences of the glorious multiplicity of ye ancient olde British aircraft manufacturers.
My ancestors the Armstrongs are though :)

I wish they wouldnt keep calling them "vintage" makes one feel so old :(

OK you're right(just Googled it) but I remember from my youth making models and one had twin boom, the other a single fusilage. So which had a single fusilage version?

Neither ( or none, if you include the Vixen, the third twin boom-er ) I dont think had a single 'version'.
But if you are thinking of the 'Sea ' versions they were replaced by the Blackburn Buccaneer on aircraft carriers, but not a popular model of those days.
Popular modellable jets of the time were the Gloucester Javlin ( delta wing, high tail plane) and the earlier classic Meteor ( two big engines mid-wing)
Else the Follang Gnat, fav cos the Red Arrows used it,
Any bells ringing ?
Before we get on to the V bombers ;)

I'm familiar with most of those inc. Victor, Vulcan & Valiant. Kielkraft was a popular flying kit producer back in the 60's and produced both Venom and Vampire which were powered by "Jetex" motors (basically a solid fuel rocket), one was twin boom, the other a single fusilage. I have visited Hendon and Duxford, one, I think both have either Venom or Vampire with a single fusilage. The problem is that I seem to have a mental block when it comes to which is which.

Hendon has a Vampire (see list at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Air_Force_Museum_London#Aircraft_on_display ) and Duxford has Vampire, Venom  and Vixen (see list at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_aircraft_at_the_Imperial_War_Museum_Duxford ).  They're all twin boom aircraft.  Maybe you're remembering a Sea Hawk?  Alternatively Kielkraft might have put together some sort of mongrel without the booms as the Jetex would have likely burned up the tailplane between the booms?

steve836

Could be or, more likely, I'm Just going senile. One of the Kielkraft models had the twin boom, but the tailplane was higher than the exhaust from the motor so didn't cause a problem.
