Im working may way through working out the easiest coaches to light up, and i begin to notice all the new mk1s and bullieds dont have a live wheel! Both wheels on each axle have the plastic ring around them which effectivly kills them.

Any idea why this is?

Its abit odd especially when the mk1 pullmans have 1 live wheel on each axle!

Sounds the same as the Dapol coaches that's why I went for wheel axle pickups using brass strip.   ;)

Presumably to save tooling cost - why tool a live wheel in addition when you don't need to?

You could try bridging across one of the insulating bushes with silver paint (assuming the axle is still metal!).
