Mixed traffic, Peco wagons/Farish coaches ?

I should really have titled this "Uncoupling" but feared the groans of "oh no not another one " 
Bear with me , ,

Prologue :
I have (just about) got a working Inglenook using Peco wagons with magnetic lift arms and neos on a stick.
Now I want to shunt, sort of end for end, a rake of 4 Farish coaches.

The problem :
The Rapido? couplings on the coaches do not have the same freedom of movement as the Peco ELC Apart from being spring loaded, which I read can be another prob, mine seem to be restricted in upward movement. They cannot lift far enough to clear the adjoining coupler. It seems that the other coupler needs to be simultaneously depressed ( which is where we reach for another G&T, oh sorry, I stray ) even when coupling to the Farish loco.
When coupling up, not the easy maneuver compared to the Peco which are a delight, it seems that one coupler in riding over the other pushes it down, so the coupling becomes complete. Not easily replicated magnetically upon uncoupling

The proposed solution :
I place a ( some) Peco wagon(s) infront of and behind the coaches and do the uncoupling of the loco from them.

an aside = the locos are all Farish but I can uncouple a Peco from them no bother /aside

The Question :
I know mixed freight/passenger did 'do', mostly perhaps on branch lines ?
BUT
Is there a real world symetrical arrangement that would satisfy, or are we back to Rule 1 ?

XP fish vans were often added to the end of passenger trains at ports/port branch junctions. Peco do some (over-long) examples; otoh Farish do some more accurate ones, but that takes you back to square 1!

So could empties be coupled to the loco while full were added to the other end ?

Oh no ! that wouldnt work, there would not be full one end and empties the other going both ways  lol ! drat !

Take a Peco 15ft chassis and stick a Farish (or other) 4 wheel coach body on it (the shredded wheat ones are good donors for this). Voila, coaching stock to match but on Peco chassis. Or do them as Baggage vans.

I think Peco do the coupling pockets as a separate item.
You can turn the farish boogies 180 degrees and glue a peco coupling box to them then the magnetic lift arms can be used as you are with the wagon's

Are we talking bogie coaches here?

If so there is always my trusty mod, which I think is simpler than the new coupling box mod (although I am sure this would work too).

Even better, change the couplings to the Dapol EasiShunts and the world of uncoupling is your oyster.
