Folks,

I have a late Poole Farish HST which is running well now after allot of help from Dan and particularly Russsell on here : :admiration:  However, it's a 3 car set and obviously only came with one coach.  I have been keeping a lookout for a couple more coaches with no success.

I'm looking for one -ideally two MK III's in Swallow livery to match the one in my set, but everything seems to have silver window frames and mine is just plain and simple.  Do I have any chance of finding some very basic matching MK III's (not fussed about interiors or buffers) or do I have to give up and bite the bullet and buy a rake of more recent ones?  I was hoping the old coaches might be more common and cheaper but alas not so far.

Cheers,

Rich

Hey rich,
You might be in luck.
An old guy that has been selling up to move to OO gauge has a stack of brand new items. Although some are the older model everything is new as he never got a layout built. Anyway he rang me the other day asking again for help. He opened up a sealed box in his spare room to find more stuff he could not remember buying. I think he is one of those guys that buys and buys forgetting what he has already got and never got to do anything with it. Anyway he sent me a list and a few items from his first lot have gone to a few ngf members some even back to the uk.
I'm still awaiting the coach list but he has a hst set in intercity swallow 371-479. If it's of interest I can ask him how much plus if he has any extra coaches left.
Did you have a budget?what sort of silly prices have you seen.
Just remember our dollar to your pound is half when I get his asking price
Hope this helps
Bart

Hi Bart,

Thanks for the reply and the offer, can you check for us, my HST set is P/N 8127 if that helps.  I figured from looking on-line (maybe wrongly) 12-14 GBP per coach might be OK at the time of buying -since then, everything that match has dried up and all else seems to have shot up to 18 or 25'odd for Dapol stuff (which is way OTT in detail for me).  Not sure what those work out in AUD these days.  Maybe I should post a pic of what I'm trying to match also.

BTW, I used to be a total performance Toyota car nut and you guys in AUS (being much closer) used to have so much more JDM parts readily at hand.  It always surprised me just how cheap and quick rare parts from Australia could get to me in the UK!  Have had stuff delivered in 3 days before for not much more than our own couriers charge for parts within the UK (would be more than a week if it was shipped internally here).

Thanks fpr the offer,

Rich

I had that 3 car set. Bought it for A$10 as it was not working. Spent 5 minutes cleaning it and back on ebay. It went for totally stupid money just over A$150
I'm sorry I can't remember the difference in coaches between the set I mention vs yours.
Postage us not cheap from us to you. I have to sent my new class 31 back to hattons and it cost A$18.
I will get him a call after I get back from young blokes soccer match. But I'm thinking he was wanting around A$15/20 per coach which is half retail here but if I buy enough he might do better. I've bought a few dollars worth already off him!
Hope I can't get the items you need

Cheers for the reply Bart, maybe have to maybe hold-off for the minute so check but don't commit (just checked and the bank balance isn't that good this month!).

To be honest I don't think you're too bad at 18AUD for AUS-UK.  I'm most of that just to send things a few hundred miles within the UK because I'm classed as living on an island somehow*.  I got fed up with Hattons returns so I started saying they have to make the pick-up (which works very well so far), but not sure if that works outside of the UK though!

*Thinking about it that would have a bearing on postage so check delivery to IV2, Inverness.  I'm not paying stupid custom charges.
