The program is embedded into flash videos and is then set to reload at a later time

It is also dead easy to remove on Windows, especially in Safe Mode
However, it is quite difficult to remove from iPhone

Must be pretty difficult to get it onto the iPhone too as it doesn't use flash.

That is correct, as the video embedded format is different (and the list was too long to list here)

The majority of reports are from flash video used in Windows OS
As a result most affected people think the issue lies with Windows itself, but due to the delay in the program it may not have been realised it was from watching a flash video

On the iPhone there is a similar delay, however the response from the App is quite different (allowing access to Safari in order to fix the issue)
The main issue comes when the iPhone is switched off then back on again where all access is denied

I'm assuming that makes it a jailbroken iPhones issue (i.e. not an iPhone problem, just a jailbreak problem)? I can't find any reference to it on iOS, just Windows.

No, I've fixed this issue on three iPhones now, all using genuine software

Have you got a link to info on the iOS version? I can file a RADAR bug on Safari if need be.

Dr.Rob

There was a more evil version of this virus a few months ago that managed to prevent start-up in safe mode so was a right pig to get rid of.
