I am not "Happy" and I am not "Angry" just feeling sad and quite poorly after returning to Tenerife from a New Year Caribbean cruise followed by a visit to family in the U.K.

The cruise was great but both the misses and I picked up a "bug" on the last day of the cruise and have been unwell for over a week now - both when we landed in the U.K. (Gatwick) from Barbados, and then in Tenerife 5 days later.

The only thing to brighten the homecoming was I did manage a trip to Dutfiels in Chelmsford and picked up a few 2nd hand n gauge bargains, and a Hattons parcel was waiting for me when I arrived home in Tenerife with some goodies in it including a new Class25/1 which I need to run in when better.

When feeling up to it I am going to extend my baseboard where I can for some additional track to make a longer mainline run for my trains and more sidings.

The only train I saw on our trip was the one in the photo below which was on display as part of a Xmas scene outside the ship's main Dining Room.

Hope all you guys out there are having a better start to the New Year than I am presently feeling - but enough moaning - I need to think positive in order to make both myself and the wife feel better.

Crikey I feel like that all the time its called a retirement age crisis  when I retired 11 years ago I was ready to hit the road and travel Australia with my caravan  :claphappy: what I didn't know was my Wife had other ideas that didn't include travel  for the past 11 years I have had a caravan sitting idle with only the occasional trip for a week or two  no wonder I shut myself up in the shed with my model train layouts its one place that I can sulk in peace  :scowl: I guess thats life when you are Married  :veryangry: do I love her, of course  :heart2: yes I do feel a bit sorry for myself  :censored:

Come on guys

I've not long been home from work feeling very content and happy looking forward to an hour or two with the soaps on TV and an hour or two on this forum and you want to have a 'sad' forum!!
What we want is an 'I refuse to be sad forum'

Angry thread yes - being angry makes me happy sometimes.
Happy thread yes - being happy is contageous - read the happy thread if you feel sad eh! :uneasy:

Size matters - especially if you don't have a lot of space - and N gauge is the answer!

Sorry to hear the holiday ended badly...

I trust you had a deep and meaningful discussion with the captain over the evils of mixing scales in model railway scenery??

Get well soon.

The Captain was a German and his English wasn't brilliant, and the Head Chef who was probably responsible for the Xmas display pictured was Austrian, so didn't query the layout.

For some reason trips to the engine room were not allowed on this trip, but the food was very good and they had the wine I really like (which happens to be a German wine), although it was a British ship and everyone spoke English, and the entertainment was good too.

Had to give away one pair of trousers at the end of the cruise as I could no longer fasten them up and am now on an enforced diet as my stomach is complaining and so is my head, but slowly feeling a little better.

I blame all those Brits who flew out from Manchester & Gatwick to Tenerife to join the cruise and brought their colds and flu with them from the U.K..

Hi TDM,

Hope you feel better soon.

My van is terminally ill so have had to buy a new one from my savings  :(

Could of bought 10 maybe 12 Fleischmann coaches with the deposit  :'(

Anyway, the main reason I am sad is that I work outside and it's fing freezing, I haven't been on a cruise and I don't live in Tenerife  :)

Am not angry, more jealous but still sad  :(

Have quoted before from the film Animal House...'my advice to you is to start drinking heavily!'

CHEERS WEAVE take care  :beers:

Thousands more suckers conned onto cruises

If it's any consolation, my parents went on a cruise over Christmas (up to the North Cape) and it took them about two weeks to recover from it.

If yousall want to feel realy realy sad, and old at the same time, try,
having a heart attack on the morning of your 65th birthday !

You have not been feeling too well for a few days,
swmbo goes off to work wishing "Happy birthday, hope you feel better soon"

Nope, asprins running low, want something stronger, jump in car to go to the pharmacy , , ,
(but panic not)
you are about to pass the doctors surgery and think "this is what they are there for"
a short ride later in an ambulance and , well , , I'll spare you the details.

So if I seem to get a bit 'testy' from time to time in my postings, I dont mean it, I'm just trying to type a bit fast :)

Why are we doing this in the "N Gauge Discussion region" ?
