Hi,

Apart from the current 60019 Bittern, does anyone know if Dapol have produced any other A4s with non-corridor tenders? I can't see any others, and I'm on the lookout for one for a project...

Regards,
Alan

None that I know of, unless the current ones from Modellbahn Union have them.

I pushed Dave hard to get a non-corridoor tender behind Bittern, and wished I'd done the same for a couple of others I'd not been that interested in buying and failed to spot they had the wrong tender.

Contacting one of the team by email to suggest a non-corridoor identity for the next release might help. - try Richard@Dapol..... first.

Hi,

Thanks Les, that's useful to know. Bittern looks to be the only way forward for now.

Is a shame Dapol aren't exploiting the chance to produce a wider variety of variants - the same with the Britannia - were we not originally promised various versions, different smoke deflectors, the different tender versions etc, and didn't they even tool these?

Missed opportunities IMHO!

Cheers,
Alan

Hello Fred here. The non corridor tender on Bittern has beading on the tender didn`t A4s run with streamlined non corridor tenders with out beading .I think bittern only ran with beaded tender in preservation. If Dapol are going to do another run they should take the beading off .
A4 Golden Eagle would be nice. What do you think everybody.

I'd like all 35 but that would stretch both my wallet and rule 1 much too far, esp. as I'm modelling Midland. Might just run to Sir Nigel  as I photo'd it at Derby.

That's a function of Dapol only being able to afford three out of the five (and a half?) tenders that ran with the A3 and A4.   In a world where N is a bigger market the other two would have been done.

At least they got closer than Farish with a corridoor tender that was limited to two locos (the half- the pair that were cut down after the Locomotiove exchanges) and NO non-corridoor version, again a function of market size even back in those days.

It is a sobering thought that Hattons OO Beyer Garratt has had more made even as a limited edition than the TOTAL number of Dapol A4s so far.........

All the very best
