I am on holiday in the UK and go back to Africa on Sunday. On 19th August I ordered a pack of static grass from War World Scenics. On my arrival in London on 1st September there was no sign of the static grass.

I contacted WWS by email and they promised to send another pack. To date that has not arrived either.

I asked for the parcel to be sent to my daughter's office in London where there is always someone to take delivery of parcels. When I first contacted WWS about the missing parcel I said that if I ended up with two parcels I would be happy to pay for the extra one.

When the replacement parcel failed to arrive I sent them another email on Monday saying that I needed the grass by the end of this week and would pay extra postage if necessary.

The cost of the order is £5.30, I know it's not a lot but I'm really fed up with them and am not sure what to do next.

Prior to my arrival in London I ordered lots of items from eBay and every one  arrived within a two days at the most.

It seems highly unlikely that two parcels would go missing.

I hope two parcels containing static grass pitch up tomorrow but I think it will highly unlikely.  :-X

You wish! I live in Holland, and more than once have waited over six weeks in vain for a package from an amazon seller in the UK to arrive, have then contacted the seller, and the replacement sent has also got lost in the post ;-}

Re Amazon suppliers I have noticed that the dregs of E-bay are increasingly trading on Amazon since e-bay started to get ever more greedy, there was a time when you were reasonably safe on Amazon but those days seem to have gone now more is the pity. I buy a lot in Germany and it's daft to have to say that postage from there is not only cheaper but often faster than our own home grown "service". Strangely enough I am having a problem with a purchase and non delivery on a parcel from Holland, first time of using the firm unfortunately case of never again already. As for two going missing in the UK yes and all to often these days but if they will employ temps without vetting them first add to that most barely speak English it's no wonder we are having problems how do I know all this well there is not a parcel service I have not worked for including our own post office and Parcel Force and frankly the industry is a disgrace there is little wonder that German firms like DHL and Hermes are showing the rest the way home both have a very strong work ethic and very strict vetting of all employees including any temps.I know this doesn't help the missing parcels but your not alone and the problem is a growing one.
One pair bi-focals plus one pair of modelling glasses = two locos of choice!!!!

I thought the South African post office was bad but it seems Royal Mail is capable of the odd slip up.

I suppose I'm lucky that 99% of my parcels have arrived safely.

An update, a parcel arrived a week after I'd left for Africa, it didn't have enough stamps on it, so my daughter had to pay in to receive it.

The second arrived a week after the first and had enough stamps on it.

All in all it took a month from date of order for the parcels to arrive. I can't blame Royal Mail for this, it seems as though the supplier was either very busy or very disorganised.

I now have two packs of static grass in the UK which can't be posted on to me in Africa because the South African Post Office is on strike  :veryangry:

We received a card from my Mum here in Italy the other week it took 3 weeks and had a Royal Mail sticker claiming insufficient postage paid so had been sent by route other than air mail. My Mother is 89 years old and takes all the post to the PO to have it weighed etc. She didn't decide to put a97pence worth of stamps on it did she...
What route ?  Did they wait until one of their employees was perhaps passing Austria and thought that's near enough   :veryangry: :veryangry: :veryangry:
Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.

I also find the postal service a frustration, I have just been stung as a parcel I posted went missing and had to refund the buyer for it leaving me with no loco and no dosh either. Can only claim for a cerain amount of it back as well. I sent 8 parcels inside 48 hours from the same post office, 7 arrived very quickly, the other one never did!
Have sent several other since then, all of which arrived, aaaargh!!!

best wishes
Simon
