I didn't realise that Dapol Britannia's were still available! :confused1: However they do quote that this is 2nd exclusive locomotive, has anyone purchased one?

There were stacks of them on the Dapol stand at TINGS last September...

I have the 'Iron Duke's sister Golden Arrow loco in the standard-issue 70004 'William Shakespeare' (ND-095E) - running in was an issue, in that after lubrication and the standard run-in period, it was still a little rough-running, but an extended period on the club's test roundy-roundy layout (which has curve radii a lot larger than the 1st radius on my test circuit) eased it quite a bit. Tried it again on my test circuit and it binds a bit on the curves, so if you have setrack points and/or 1st radius curves, it is not recommended.

Osborns were at the Bristol show the past Bank Holiday weekend and they had an 'Iron Duke' for sale, but this had the label 'ND-OSB1' on the end so would imagine a slightly different package - they still wanted a handsome price for it though, and had to, unfortunately, give it a miss  :(

Seems that this loco comes with Golden Arrow etchings in the box, along with it a handsome price tag also. Shame it has running issues on tight curves!

my two brits (Britannia and Oliver Cromwell) run beautifully!

i was tempted by the Iron Duke one, but since i only do preserved i couldnt justify buying it, the only thing i would of ended up using out the box would of been the etchings to shove on the front of a bullied locomotive or pullman train.

the box it comes in by the way is the same as what my collett brake end came in which was a osbornes exclusive, and its yellow with a red corner saying osbornes exclusive or something like that.

if anyone knows where i can get the etchings from then i would love some!

I would try contacting Osborns directly. Maurice is a very friendly and helpful chap. Even if they cannot supply them, they might be able to tell you where to look.

I got mine way back in September 2010 for £115.64 delivered, it is the only Dapol loco I have had with no running issues what so ever    It has all the golden arrow etches in the box which was just a normal Dapol loco box and a LTD edition certificate inside, I have No 11 out of 200.

I also have done a Minitrix Britannia William Shakespeare in the golden arrow livery but can't remember where I got the etches and flags from  ( it could have been Fox transfers ) I will have a dig round to see if I can find any info  :hmmm:
