If you remember the old tube TVs, they had an EHT rail of 8000 - 12000 volts. To adjust the purity, we had to adjust some magnetic rings around the tube neck, quite close to the EHT rectifier. We often got a flashover, but the rule was, keep one hand in your pocket, so although it made you jump, it wasn't fatal.
The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.
