There's an article in the Mail on Sunday about biomass being burnt at Drax Power station.  Apparently the biomass is delivered to Drax in the worlds biggest freight wagons. These are 60ft high and the 25 car trains are half a mile long.
I can't wait for some models of these.

Regards to all.

A bit of creative journalism methinks :hmmm:

The wagons certainly don't look "60ft high" to me:-

At 60 feet in height the cars would not be able to travel through most tunnels. I'd bet they meant to print LENGTH and not height. I'm so sure of it that I'd bet YOUR paycheck on it!

Isn't that nice of me?
I exclusively model the WSMF Railroad.

5280 feet in a mile so 2640 in half a mile.
25 wagons at 60 ft each = 1500 feet so........the locomotive has  to be 1140 feet long (or 380 yards) to make up the half mile train length claimed by the Mail on Sunday!
Journalistice license methinks on a rather Grand Scale !
I'm sure I'll get used to cream first soon.

I think the error is that you picked up the Mail instead of a newspaper... I wouldn't even believe the date on the cover of that rag without checking a calendar...  :-\

It's the wife's paper!  I only have a quick glance so I've got something to rant about for the next few hours.  I do get told not to read it!

As you say, 'Journalistic license'. In the picture I count 22.

22 x 60ft = 1320ft + the power unit = app 0.26 of a mile in total.
