hello all

iv got quite a varied selection of farish poole suburban stock now, and theres still some i want to get. i think they look really good, vintage stock, and look good behind most locomotives.

what i currently have is:-
- 3 LMS maroon
- 6/7 LNER Teak
- 5 blue
- 4 maroon lined (no company details.

what im wondering is....

1-how many different varieties were there? im aware of GWR stock, Caledonian, Southern, SDJR?
2-what are the maroon lined ones? they look similar in design to the caledonian ones, just minus the emblems and obviously maroon in colour.

think i will aim for GWR next, i did have 5 but stupidly sold them for up to date mk1s, big mistake!

At a guess the lined maroon ones will be British Railways colours - roughly 1958 to 1968.

Only 2 body types a compo and a brake compo in the original range, the different liveries all went on the same pair of body designs , later they added  BR Mk1 which had different  bodies.

As far as I can remember, there would be the lined and unlined versions (the unlined ones came first, in the seventies, and were replaced by the lined versions at the start of the eighties.

You'll have suburban and mainline carriages each for the LMS, LNER, GWR, and SR, both in brake and compartment/corridor form, two for each. There's also suburban-only carriages for the CR (brake and compartment). Then you'll have the same mix for 4-wheel carriages (brake and compartment), with the inclusion of the S&DJR.

There's also the lined BR maroon suburban full-length carriages.
