Hmmm - many laptops can't go beyond the 4GB mark, basically because you get limited expansion capability in them ... the mfrs just don't provide spare slots   Don't know if this one has that, but best be aware.

You can check the maximum amount of memory a machine can take on the Crucial web site.  Indeed, it may require you to "throw away" the existing DDRs and replace with new ones.
