Follow on Airbrush

Hi all

I am looking to up-grade my airbrush for one that can do finer work and I am not sure what to go for

I currently have a Iwata Neo airbrush which is a great airbrush but not great for doing really fine work

I have looked at the following Airbrush but I'm not sure

Has anyone seen or used one of these and if so how do you find it

There are reviews on the web but I was just wondering if anyone out there had one

Would it not do finer work if you changed the needle inside it?

Not sure if you can get a finer needle set for the Neo

To be honest it hadn't crossed my mind

Worthwhile looking into as it will be a lot cheaper

Just Had a look on-line and the only other Needle/nozzle available is larger 0.5mm instead of 0.35mm

As far as I'm aware the smaller the nozzle the finer the spray pattern
That's why I would like one with a 0.2mm nozzle

I did quite a bit of airbrush research for upgrading from the Chinese brush and the H&S brushes get excellent reviews

It seems that H&S and Iwata are pretty safe bets and it all comes down personal preference as to how the airbrush handles. The only reason I didn't go for the H&S was that I spotted an Eclipse at a bargain price on eBay and ended up upgrading sooner than I thought.

Everything airbrush sells H&S and Iwata - maybe it is worth contacting them to see if a 2mm needle will work on the Neo and which of the airbrushes they would think was a good upgrade for you

Sounds a good idea Jane worth the phonecall at least probably find out more with a call than hours of reading thats what i find with modelling, i bought a compressor from them a few years ago after a call best thing i've bought in a while for the workbench.

I think I may contact Everything Airbrush and see what they have to say

The only thing about the H&S Airbrush is that there is no local stockist where I could go and see one and get to handle one
to see how it feels in my hand

I would really like the Iwata HP-SB Plus but I can't justify spending £200+ on an airbrush........... That's 2 new locos

Hi all

Well I spoke to Everything Airbrush today and they confirmed that there is no smaller nozzle/needle set for the neo

They also told me that the H&S airbrush is indeed a very good airbrush and nice to use

But I would still like to see how one feels in my hand $:-\$

But due to the fact there are no stockists close to me I have to make a decision
Do I just go for it and order one or wait a while and try to get my Mitts on one

Given that the Iwatas have a great reputation for modelling are you sure it won't work for you? Perhaps it is a case of more practice or different paint/pressure.

Maybe it could be down to me not having the correct paint or pressure

But I do have a Cheap Chinese airbrush that has a 0.2mm nozzle/needle and I can get much finer detail with that

But the downside is that it is heavy ( due to it having a large paint cup) and it's a complete PITA to clean

Oh..........and I have managed to strip the thread on 2 nozzles

So this is the reason for getting a better airbrush $:-\$
And you can never have too many tools
