Evening all.

Has anyone see that new Audi advert for the R8 V10+?

Its brilliant, mainly because it's so simple. It starts with a shot of the R8 on a rolling road, wheels trundling along. Then it goes full throttle up through the gears (sounding superb as it does), as the camera moves up over the engine bay and then to the back of the car.

As we reach the back we see the rear end body work is missing, the reason becoming immediately obvious as the engine falls back down through the gears and blue flame spits out of exhausts which are bereft of silencer / cats etc.

As the car wheels come to a halt the camera returns to the starting position. The simple tagline (which I can't remember!) in black on white background the fades in.

This jumps straight into number two on my fav car add list, behind the all time great that is Honda's "Cog".

I believe this is to be found on Youtube still, but I happen to have a copy on DVD. Yep I am just that special folks (actually came free with Top Gear magazine one month a few years back).

All this prompted me to post on here with the question....What is your favourite car add?

There was a comedy spoof of that ad  years ago , maybe Harry Enfield or Russ Abbott,
it showed a kerb crawler driving  up behind a young woman in skimpy attire, she turns round and says "Pappa!" and he says "Nicole!"  :D

Awful car, but probably the funniest car adverts (although technically disqualified as they weren't real adverts. IIRC they were 'spec' ads done by an ad agency hoping to get new accounts).

Ford's Evil Twin Commercials - Back to Back!

The second one is also really quite mean.

:sorrysign:  I just cannot get excited about 'The Cog' or the Audi advert  There was also one that was like an orchestra of car-parts - terrible!

Maybe it's because I'm a girly but I don't want to see mechanics of the car in the advert, just whether it looks good to me and gives me that feeling of exhilaration when driving it (although pot-holes in the road mean that I have had to curb my enthusiasm for sashaying through curves at speed  :()

Some car adverts seem to have got too clever for their own good these days and don't convey the messages very well - e.g. whether the cars' selling points are raw speed, practicality, fun to drive etc.

P.S. and it must have a good mirror for checking my lippy  :P
