Just hope the PM and the Queen remember what he thinks of us English if honours are mentioned.   :veryangry:

Well done Andy...you deserve it.

What with David Cameron and Alex Salmond there, Andy bridged the old Scot's, English divide.

Good day to be British even better day to be Scottish, for all our Scottish friends on here be proud and welcome him home as a hero, and have a wee dram to celebrate his success.

People say I'm small minded and live in my own little world; maybe their right!

I take it he's won then and made history! Well done Andy.

Regardless of what he thinks of the English there's no way he should even be considered for an honour anyway. It's about time honours stopped being handed out to sports people just doing their job, be it running, rowing a boat, hitting a fuzzy green ball or whatever. Time was when honours were EARNED by devoted long service to something or achievement above and beyond the expected, they are the people we should be honouring not flavour-of-the-moment sporticians.

Mr Sprue

I agree with Sprintex sports people earn huge amounts of money these days which is the main reason why they participate.

Devoted services or achievements above and beyond to our country should be the criteria of which honours are awarded, especially to those who do it voluntarily!

Yup, and the poor bugger hasnt been allowed to forget it by anyone.
Still, of course he's British, Unless you were the online editor for the New York Times Earlier today who extolled the English winner of the English competition.

If I was Andy I'd move to the USA and ask for a Green Card
