Not quite that simple in the Bachmann case. Bachmann *is* a Chinese company,

Chinese owned (by Kader), but American founded, a German name (meaning someone living by a stream), Burmese registered and headquarters in Hong Kong. :)

How about some 70's motors ?

Cortina
Chevette
Fiesta
Escort
Austin 1100
MGB (hate them, but they were popular...)
Viva
Hillman Minx
Austin Maxi

etc...
If it's got rails... you have my full, undivided attention - Steam, diesel and electric, 'tis all good !

I too would like to see plenty of 70's/80's vehicles. Hopefully someone will step up soon and fill the void. The GF buses look great but if they are the wrong size then they are no good to me.

Yep, the 70s, 80s and 90s are very poorly served by quality N gauge vehicles (the 40s, 50s and 60s have a far better range to choose from) and where there are some they tend to be high end luxury/sports cars. What is needed are some bog standard, ordinary and commonplace run-a-rounds from those three decades.

I did overhear someone from Bachmann having a good old moan that they can't get anything made on time - delivery dates keep getting put back further and further by the Chinese manufacturers!
Paul

Interesting- aren't Bachmann the only ones who own their factory?  If they are having trouble it must be vastly worse for everyone else- and yet all we as a modelling community seem to do is bellyache about things being late.......

Just a thought

No the factory owns Bachmann. I imagine they prioritise their major product lines and markets, which would mean they UK got the dregs.

I experienced a similar situation years ago while working for a UK division of a Japanese Hi Fi manufacturer. The UK got their 'allocation' despite that being sold twice over. No amount of belly aching or anything else seemed to alter or improve that.

You either waited or went elsewhere. Not the best way to endear yourself to the end customer.

Hattons have done some updates to delivery dates for the Scenecraft N gauge buses. The ones with the specific delivery date "on or after 19th August 2013" have been revised based on info. from Bachmann. Interestingly the new arrivals include two of the Guy Arab Utility double deckers. There are still some fanciful delivery dates on there but I am inclined to believe the 19th August date.

My optimism about August 2013 delivery was misplaced. At TINGS Bachmann did not have a timescale for delivery quoting labour availability and production capacity as the source of delay. It was confirmed that all the items would be delivered but when is still unpredictable.

In spite of what Colin told me at TINGS, the items from my original post turned up today at Rails, according to an email I just received! Looking forward to seeing what they have now achieved with the Guy Arab Utilities. Only 5 weeks after the August 19 date............

Seems to be a glitch on the Farish website. ALL the buses (bar one - Midland General VRT) are shown as in stock.

Hi Gang , Sorry to report having had a good look I cannot see how to fit the Tomytex motor chassis for its bus system into the Leyland National :'( I wanted to have some bus fun but it would require over a 1 mm off chassis or body but glazing impinges even more and sadly wheelbase for the one I have is 3mm short - but this can be adjusted looking at how it is clipped together..
Ho hum, if only it had been 1:148

Hi with help of the Horsely fields crew (Ben!) I have now done a Dennis Dart -albeit in grey at this time. Off Data Jammers Shapeways shop got busstop and road gear on the way just need to sort some road markings and tidy off the road markings on the set and all will be well in play land.
Plenty of nerve and a look at other chassis from Tomix should see a national break cover !
great inspiration will have to look at DD stock as it were! I have a WM double somewhere in a box of bits.

Good to see , I have now used mine as force perspective on Templedean.

tomix demonstrator mini layout worked well at Telford thanks to the Grange over sands gang - Robin! who lent some buses after mine went awol..

Hopefully if these sell Bachmann might be tempted to re tool or do a range suitable for front of house !
