Having DCC'd my old resin bodied Class 26 I thought I would give it a cosmetic makeover.  So I did what I have done for many years with plastic and cast metal bodies, and dropped the body into a jar of brake fluid to take the old paint off.

What I now know, and didn't yesterday, is that resin absorbs brake fluid.  I sprayed the body with primer this morning and the primer is refusing to dry.  The body smells of brake fluid even though I washed and degreased it very thoroughly when it came out of the dip. Oh dear.

Luckily I have a Class 25 body which will fit the same chassis with new bogie sideframes (and ideally fuel tanks but I can probably do something with Plastikard).  Tempted to go completely out of period for my own 1962-era layout and finish it as one of my favourites:

Seen at Carlisle, Easter 1985. Modelling that bodyside damage could be challenging.

I have a spare 26 resin body if it's any use to you (sent you a PM regarding this)
