That is the older one-piece bogie and coupling socket
The latest is the bogie only

No it's not. It's a new tool model, close couplered (couplers part of the body/chassis).

I have several.

I inspected one of these out of the box and found it was fitted with the older design
Whilst I accept it is an updated version, it is still a one-piece moulding
As a result I could not swap the bogies between the other Blue Riband releases

The next release has the separate version

AndyGif

oh no, it's a boggie squabble not seen one of those since junior school....  :dighole:

itself (and so far only the BR1 and Commonwealth bogies have been released)
Therefore bogies cannot be swapped between older versions and Blue Riband versions

B4 ones have also been released and for double the fun have a different axle length to the others so need different 2mmSA wheel axle lengths.

Hi

I'm pretty sure that model number 374-085 has the new bogies without the coupling attached though I cannot check until this evening whether it has B4 bogies or not.

Cheers

As does 374-013 (SO), which has B4s as photographed below:

I'm confident Bachmann won't have been silly enough to use older bogies on any of their other new-tool Mk1s....

so could you get a new nem fitted b4 bogie (assuming it is sold seperately somewhere) and attach it to old style mk1 coach????

for my intercity mk1 coaches i am cutting up the bogies and gluing in an nem pocket from dapol, then using short couplings to close up the gap... entire replacement bogies with nem pockets would be easier though, maybe a cottage industry project for someone here!

No. The NEMs are body mounted to close coupler mechanism as in the picture, so the new style bogies have no coupler socket attached to them.

Hardly. Probably cost you £5,000 or more in tooling, which divided by the sales you'd get is going to be rather pricy.  Cheaper to update to the new coaches and sell the old ones.

ok... never knew it was so much to produce tooling for a few different bogie types

yeh, eventually i will update to new coaches...

I just checked my blue riband Mk1 coaches and found b4 bogies under mk1 FK,CKx2,SO and BCK.

can you buy any ready painted and better detailed 20ft or 40ft containers suitable for late 1980s / early 90s?

i've seen that farish make some container packs, but all the brands are too modern...

i know you can get card and plastic kits, but i was looking for any ready painted and detailed items, if such a thing exists.

ok... so i have a few container wagons now purchased from ebay

below are pics of the ones i have changed the bogies and wheels on (cheers to ntrain for supplying the atm bogies and wheels so quickly and well packaged!)

they look good, but they do seem prone to derailments and uncoupling, so i was thinking i might add weight to the wagons?  can anyone suggest how best to do this?

anyway here are a few pictures...
