It is a shame but Kaiwhara's layout does not extend far enough out for him to include the Still and West!

Well that's a famous pub and we decided a "Cultural Tour" was in order. Train to the harbour station and staight into

Next door

round past Gunwharf Quay to what used to be the American Bar

and then we made it!

well it was only just over the road

and coming back we came upon

and then

followed by

close by

had enough walking and started to rain so taxi to

where there was this lovely brewing set up

and finally my comrades in arms enjoying a pint of their brew

We then repaired to "Wetherspoons" for soakers, Chili Con Carne for me and off to catch the train, we remembered to change at Southampton but apparently we were resting our eyelids when the train got to Poole and woke up at Wareham @22.30, could have gone on down to Weymouth! Had to phone the long suffering to come and pick Eddie and I up!

Not bad for starters, MinZaPint but you missed out on the Flete and Firkin and the Eldon Arms and then there's the Old House at Home, the Leopold Tavern and . . . . . . .

. . .  a bit further afield is the Miners Arms at Funtley which came into being as the landlord also was the contractor for building the Funtley rail tunnels. It is said that one of the Welsh miners involved in the tunnel cutting chose the name for the pub.

Congratulations that the later photos are only slightly leaning!

MinZaPint

Oh Pengi what are you doing to me? you mean I'll have to go again  :bounce:    :claphappy: and as for the leaning Edwin I find a lampost quite steadying, if that starts to move I know I'm in trouble

Crikey, with that many pubs visited,if I'd have had a pint in each one,a wheelbarrow and the big white telephone would be needed.

It was Minzapint who mentionned his 'cultural tour' of Portsmouth on your topic and yet he is blaming me for his inability to get off a train at the correct stop  :o I'm just waiting for him to blame South West Trains for making the journey too comfortable . . .

I really shouldn't have blamed Pengi, good job she's got a good sense of humour  :bounce: Getting me onto the subject of BEER is not difficult  ::) Rosemary and I are going to NZ next Jan/Feb to celebrate my 70th and her retirement, flying into Christchurch and out from Auckland, travelling a mix of car & train. Hope you've got some decent ale out there, I'll be looking for tips! Oh and the train was comfortable!
