I'm looking to add to my EWS fleet and have seen that the NGS had a series of Queen Mary brake vans produced by Bachmann.

Does anybody know if any of these are available, I've seen a few that have sold on eBay but not elsewhere.

I''ll email the NGS but thought I'd ask on here too. Failing that there's the Shark kit but my painting skills do not go beyond a brush!

Hi stevieboy,
The NGS shop hasn't reported a shortage on these as far as I recall, as long as you're a member you should be able to order without any worries.  It's a super model generally and the EWS is one I had to have and really is superb.
Sometimes NGS exclusives do come up on ebay, sometimes perhaps as a result of the member deciding it's surplus to their requirements, and sometimes to profit from non-members who - rather short-sightedly IMHO - don't see the merit of membership 'just' to get the odd product, the NGS is a whole lot more than the kits and r-t-r models though.
The arrangement with Bachmann is that they can - if they choose to - add the brake van to their main range after a couple of years, but not in the specific versions sold through the NGS shop.
The Shark kit has recently had an excellent write-up with lots of photo's on this forum here: http://www.ngaugeforum.co.uk/SMFN/index.php?topic=10782.0, I'm told practise makes perfect with skills - I rather hope that proves to be true in my case  :smiley-laughing:

Regards, Gerry.

Yep, I'd have thought that the EWS liveried QM brake van would be the one that the NGS would most likely have most of in stock. Get your order in directly to their shop (if you're not a member then join - it's worthwhile) it'll probably be a lot cheaper than competing and paying over the odds on ebay.

Thanks for this info, I've joined the Society just now.

Having looked on the website it'll be well worth the fee, not just for the kits, but for the journal etc.

It'll give me chance to get a Shark too and practice my painting skills.

Thanks again,

Steve
