While sorting out old papers I found the receipt from the first real 35mm camera I bought in
1967 for about £21 , this was a Werra 1 , fixed lens viewfinder camera which was quite good
quality, which adjusted for inflation would now be approx £300, for which you could now
buy a digital job with movies etc thanks to advances in electronics.

Wondering about prices of model rail stuff adjusted similarly although obviously N gauge
did not appear until the 70s I think.

Well my mum and dad bought me a little fleischmann 040 steam loco for A$39 when I was in primary school around 1980. Still got the loco and runs as good if not better then the newer stuff. You can s,till buy it but it is now around the A$160-180 mark I think.
I bout a secondl one for around A$100 in 1993 when I earns A16/ hr.
Per hour i think today would be cheaper then when mum and dad would have had to save up to buy this for me.
Although I miss the trip by train to Newcastle to visit angus & Robertson bookstore which had a whole level for toy incl train. The very old sales lady was Scottish and she was great and she knew her stuff.childhood memories!

I bought a Graham Farish Class 5 when in came out in the late 70s(?) for £21 - it took 21 saturdays of gardening for an old lady to pay for it!

NN , that works out at about £100 adusted for inflation
so not much change there unless newer versions much
improved.

£100 it may be, but it still runs very smoothly and looks OK from a distance (like100yds :-X)
