sticky Grafar class 31

My Graham Farish Class 31 DCC has become an erratic starter. 4 times out of 5 OK but on 5th will either will either just sit down with no head/tail lights , or will fractionally start then stop, lights out. Slight tap and its off. Cleaned wheels and track. Any ideas? Does it need to go into the works as I couldn't sort anything under the bonnet myself

Maybe needs the pickup wipers checking and adjusting, and their contact areas also cleaning.

Might even be the decoder pins are a bit loose and need adjusting.
