Adrian

I apologise if this has appeared before - my search didn't reveal the info.

Is the chassis fitted to the 25 the same as that on the 24?
Also, are modern Farish diesel loco wheels/gears fairly standardised eg are the wheels/gears on the 24 the same as those on the 25?

I'd be grateful for any guidance on this.

Thanks

Adrian

Hi  Provided you refer to 25/1

many common parts and wheels seem to be same.
The lighting arrangements differ so it is not possible to do a straight swap as these are mounted differently.

The older "25/3" no.
hope this helps

I was wondering if anyone else is a bit nonplussed by the over-prominent handrails on the cab ends of he new BachFarish Class 25, but unlike me has had the bottle to do something about it...?

Yes the hand rails do stick out quite a bit, I've done one of mine, the hand rails pull out (carefully) with a pair of pliers but doing this will damage some of the paint on both the hand rails & the cab nose. I then trimmed about 2-3mm off the ends them then re-fitted & superglued them so they sit closer to the cab. I had to touch in the yellow paint around the rails where it was damaged.

I think it's an improvement, got 2 more of mine to do when I get around to it.

Cheers, Stu.

Thanks Stu,
Indeed that is quite an improvement. Makes be feel a little braver about having a crack myself.

Yeah it's worth a go as long as you bear in mind it will damage the paint doing it, unfortunately as far as I can see its unavoidable, but with a fresh bit of paint re-applied it can look good again.

cheers, Stu.

Love the front bufferbeam on your 25 Stu! The handrails are prominent on the 24 too but I don't think it helps them being painted bright white. I'm contemplating dirtying-down mine to take away the visual impact of them - they don't appear to be any thicker than most other handrails which in silver, aren't as prominent. I guess this gauge of wire for them is about as small as they dare go before they get too fragile and hard/costly to assemble so I'll not complain too much!
