might be oversized but still great inspiration, 47712 in pullman blue is a particular highlight, and the electrostars of course, but the ultimate is the VEP in connex,,, if i could get hold of N gauge size connex transfers for multiple units i'd have at least 1 on the go,,,

Electra do a 207 in Connex - worth contacting him about a VEP?
Just one Pendolino, give it to me, a beautiful train, from Italy

Think if I was going up in scale I would go for the Bluebell Railway in 1/1 scale...  Size and weight make it all very realistic - and all those Souhern Locos....  Hold on a minue...................... :-X

In another scale...?  This is the one that springs to my mind:

Not my region or era, but it is pretty amazing in O Gauge to model King's Cross to Edinburgh, including the famous section of the ECML between Grantham and Peterborough.  I love all those big steam engines and there are some nice photos in the Gallery (cue Tony Hart and the Left Bank Two music).

I do love O gauge and I'm not ashamed to admit that have the Dapol 08 and Heljan Western on pre-order.

The Wells Green TMD is pretty spectacularly detailed - thanks for the link - detail we can only dream of (being able to see) in N.  And I love Model Rail for Chris Nevard's pictures.  I suppose I could grudgingly concede that OO is alright, if you like that sort of thing.
