Oh...

Tenuous connection - I used to sell newspapers in Berlin on a route which included the bar he once frequented.

There, doesn't that feel better?
Lovely!

My favourite Bowie song is "A Couple of Kooks" from "Hunky Dory".

It must have been cool to have DB as your Dad.

I just heard on the radio that when he was negotiating a deal for a David Bowie video game he took his son Duncan to the meeting as his "video games consultant".

Best regards,

Joe

I just remembered I "met" David Bowie (and Iman) once in the early nineties.

By that I mean we flew from Heathrow to Plymouth/Newquay on the same plane.

He didn't get any star treatment and travelled from the terminal to the plane in a bus with the other passengers.

I went to the toilet during the flight and on passing his seat noticed he was reading something about Bernard Leach and his gang of potters down in Cornwall so I assume that's why he was travelling on that flight.

As well as being a great artist/songwriter he was also a gentleman.

Best regards,

Joe

Tis indeed Ashes to Ashes if today's front page is to be believed - says he's already been cremated in secret with no family or friends present

A great post !

I've got another "famous people I flew in a plane with" story for you.

I once flew to Johannesburg in the same plane as Alain Delon. On arrival they had the VIP treatment ready for him. There was a young lady waiting for him at the door of the aircraft. I don't know if he's famous in your neck of the woods but he can't be very well known in South Africa because I as I stepped off the plane the young lady asked me "Excuse me, are you Mr. Delon ?". She asked the guy behind me the same question - he was black ! I think they found him eventually.

Best regards,

Joe
