Hi all.

Had a look in my loft, first time in 4 years, and found this amongst others including woodland scenics unopened packets.

Do you think this set can be chipped?

Is this a descent set, as in running, and reliable?

Thank you for viewing

I have exactly the same set, the loco is a fantastic runner, smooth, quiet and very fast, great haulage capacity. Don't know about fitting DCC though, I steer well clear of such witchcraft!

What a great find, I would be assembling the track and giving it a run  :claphappy:

cheers John.

Lovely set Ian - looks brand new.  The Silver Fox A4 is a lovely loco and at the head of a set of Maroon MK1s really looks the part.  Enjoy it!

Hi

Yes the set is brand new and have 4 others hiding up there, all different, and yes i have now set it up and its pretty nice.
Cant wait for my shed to be cleared and a baseboard installed.

DCC is witchcraft to me too so may avoid it altogether.

Don't get me wrong, DCC can do wonderful things (sound etc) but to me makes our hobby hideously complicated and expensive, so I'll stick with good old 12v DC :D Incidentally, my A4 has not played up once in 7 years of running it, I think you'll enjoy it, a few people criticise it for slightly underscale driving wheels, but it looks good to me, and ALWAYS remember rule 1: It's MY layout and I'll run what I like :P

You can get a cheap decoder in the tender. It's not a bad model - not as accurate as the newer ones but nothing wrong with it.

There's actually room to stuff sound and DCC in the tender !

The cheapie Bachmann controller is also actually a very good control unit
