Didn't know if I should post this on either the Happy or Angry threads  :D :veryangry:

SWMBO and I spent three very nice nights on an Island with the rest of our family this weekend, while we were away my darling gave me hell because of my plans to dismantle the N Gauge layout and build a OO layout as a replacement, didn't think she had it in her to swear so much

She pointed out that I hadn't even finished the #%))&^@ thing so why be an idiot and wreck it before its finished, she made a point of telling me that I had wrecked previous layouts in the past and money doesn't grow on %^)*@# trees   busted.

She knows that I have already bought some OO gauge gear, she is quite happy for me to return to my original idea and build a OO layout over the top of the N Gauge setup but has told me that all this wrecking layouts and starting again is driving her nuts

She does not understand that old Bs like me have loads of time on their hands and I do not have the space to keep layouts that are very advanced, in the name of peace and quiet she has won, I will be keeping the N gauge layout as a diesel only setup and have a OO steam layout over the top.

Will keep sticking my nose into the forum each day so I can keep up with the technical stuff and of course the banter

My advice to lads that do what I do is don't tell you Wife what you are doing  :'( :'( :'(

:laughabovepost: Welcome back ORB after your short break!! Seems your SWMBO is a secret N Gauger  :D
Today's Experts were yesterday's Beginners :)

Hi ORB,

Glad to have you back.

Know what its like ie money. SWMBO worked from home last week and sod's law 3 parcels turned up for me. I said 'Got a coach for £3.99... bargain!', which was true but didn't tell her what the other 2 parcels cost.

Think I got away with it but as they are Poirot, Miss Marple and Columbo rolled into one I'll probably get rumbled.

Keep the faith,

Cheers Weave

Good to hear you are staying  :claphappy:

It seems they way round this is not to take her away for a nice weekend  :oopssign:

Sounds like she had too much time on her hands and the brain cell kicked in  :veryangry2:, hence the rollocking  :smiley-laughing:

cheers John.

Well Dave, I must say I did hope you would pop back from time to time after you had defected to the dark side, but didn't think it would be quite so soon. SWMBO must be quite a gal!

The years have been good to me, it was the weekends that did the damage.

I'm waiting for 3 parcels, I've been caught out far too many times, 4 packages last week and still awaiting a tomix track cleaner and some more bits usually only costing a few quid at a time.  I think the Tomix may have me shot when she sees the Japan Shipping code, along with the DCC Decoder I bought from Dr Al... :(

Glad to hear that you're staying.....despite almost being forced to! :NGF: :smiley-laughing:

I have the same trouble as some of you guys with parcels arriving.  I now get them sent to my work address, and sneak them into the house....  The cowards way out, but I'm too tired to argue when I get in at 10pm.  :scowl: :D

Thanks for all the replies lads, I am afraid most but not all women understand hobbies.

I told my Wife of the days when I used to build and fly control line model aircraft, I used to fly stunt and combat planes and saw them dive into the dirt quite often, I asked her what do you think I did when that happened, the reply was build another  :help: :help: :help:

She is pretty clever and can see the difference between building a flying wing and a model railway  :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing: :smiley-laughing:

Have to give her credit she can see the logic in keeping the N layout and building another over the top  ??? ???
Keep on Smiling
Dave.

Despite  you never having  left us, welcome back !

Mrs H also has "influence" regarding my layout usually very encouraging (thankfully) but when the orders from Hattons turn up , the odd eyebrow and rolling pin are raised.

Its Hattons fault they send Everything in large expensive looking boxes even 1 x Base models lorry turned up in a foot long box.
Some days its just not worth gnawing through the straps.

have you considered bolting on some engines and control surface to the railway, i'm sure it will crash and you can then set about building anonther.....  :P

Yay! Knew you wouldn't be gone for long. ;D All those letters to Mrs Railbug from forum members must have really worked.

We have a system whereby I don't enquire too much about parcels through the door to the wife, or how much things cost and she doesn't about those to me, and so long as we stay within budget and nothing "escapes" from the room it should be in for too long.

It's worked so far  although I am currently in minor disgrace having taken the dining room table over for almost two weeks for tax returns and then packing Gresley suburbans. Just when I was about to get into the good books again the table is covered in stuff because the damp proofer wanted a bookcase of stuff moved

I live on my own as well, it is my postman who asks when I answer the door and hands me the parcel
