That's their bit done and you can't even see if it's arrived in the destination country, let alone the actual delivery address.
Anyone experienced the same, or knows how to get further details?

The tracking continues with whatever service is entrusted with the next leg(s).   I've had stuff tracked all the way to destination in Germany when sending parcels to my friends, and it's shown on the RM tracking.

yes - in my case I enter the tracking number to the Japan Post website and then track through customs and on through to the local delivery office and then allocation to teh postperson who will deliver...

When I've sent parcels via international tracked service the tracking continues via the postal service in that country.  The RM website provides the link.  Some overseas postal services provide more detailed info than RM.

Just checked with Australia Post and get the same week old info I get from the UK

Works fine getting stuff sent to the US.

The issue is the receiving country, it's literally nothing to do with RM, not so much that they don't care, but that they have no sway or influence whatsoever. If they don't get info there's nothing they can provide you.

I always look at parcelsapp.com as there you can see under the "Next tracking numbers" which number the local distributor like DPD or GLS will use. Even between Hermes Germany and Hermes Austria the tracking number switches midway without letting the customer know the new one.

Then they shouldn't be peddling such a service with their reputation already in tatters

The RM tracking system normally states the package is leaving the UK, and there is a link to take you to the receiving country's system.
This works really well for packages from most of the UK retailers.

It can take a week before the Australia Post tracking service picks up the trace after the parcel leaves UK. It's always worked for me. Average door-to-door time about 16 days. I have the advantage of an Australia Post on-line account. That automatically notifies me when they have a parcel destined for me.

May I ask what exactly do you want from RM when sending a package abroad ?

Once the parcel leaves the UK and arrives in the destination country it is entered into that countries postal service.  The tracking information update frequency is down to the overseas system and RM have no influence on how often updates are posted.  Should something go wrong and the package get lost RM will contact the overseas service provider on your behalf to instigate a case.  They can't do any more than you can and get the same info you will see when entering the overseas tracking system.  If after a period set in the ts & cs (often 30 days) its deemed a total loss RM will compensate you and handle the reclaim from the overseas company.

Its been established from other posts that the frequency of the overseas tracking info appears is very varied, with some being very frequent to very late.  That's not RM's fault.

Now I'm not defending RM - Compared to other countries we pay extortionate prices to send parcels to both internal and overseas destinations.  But as far as tracking is concerned I can't complain

Try using the USPS some day 

I pay more for shipping a Zimo decoder from a US supplier than I do shipping a loco from UK shops.
