I would prefer swaps to selling really, I have given it a lot of thought today especially after making this thread on this forum.

I must stress I'm by no means wealthy far from it actually & selling for money just doesn't interest me - this collection has been built upon 30 years and been looked after - with some older farish stuff as new from the old farish factory in Upton Dorset before Bachmann bought the company and moved all the manufacturing to China.

In all honesty I prefer N gauge to any other scale it's just unfortunate for me the trains that interest me the most and from my childhood just don't exist as ready to run models the closest I can get is OO gauge where there any a few ready to run models and a company called Brittany models based in the UK who make all kinds of emus just don't do N gauge

so from my perspective unless I can get something that interest me in N or OO gauge or unless someone was willing to purchase my whole collection as one then it doesn't really interest me and I know that limits my possibilities and may not make much sense.

While I do appreciate the offers & the many private messages with offers etc at the moment I will respectfully decline them sorry

That being said if anyone has in N or OO gauge these models and would be willing to part with them :

any slam door southern region EMUs network south East & south west trains - 4veps, 4cigs, class 442, class 444 etc 3rd rail etc

Then i would swap anything in my collection to a vast amount of even pay good money for such models - like if it's the right model and done well, I would pay top money especially if it were n gauge.

Britannia Pacific Models I assume, they do a OO gauge 442?

There are 3D prints out there for a growing number of MUs. James Bateman - JimSan of this parish does many. @Skyline2uk is working on a 442 using TPM parts on Farish mk3s that looks stunning. For the cost of a Britannia Pacific one (they're about £1000 aren't they?) you would absolutely find someone to make you an N gauge one.

If you wanted top quality then someone like Mercig will do an incredible job finishing things, given the size of your collection simply selling a few bits would give you enough. No need to swap wholesale.

@njee20

Yes that's correct Britannia models (apologies I have dislyixa so I do often get words wrong and sometimes my posts don't make a lot of sense)

Yeah you are right they do a class 442 for £995 and that's everything they have there own moulds build it paint it and install a motor basically all ready to run and even dcc ready

Only thing they do not do is lights on the models but that's fine

Funnily enough I messaged James batman of gasport works and I did initially get a reply but I asked for more info and pics and not heard anything back

I have messaged lots of people who build kits and / or paint them and they always decline to make a class 442 - so have not had much luck there

I think Merc studio's that's the guy who makes incredible looking resprays/models right? If so I asked him recently and he said it's a No and wouldn't know anyone who could do it unfortunately

I did receive a message on this forum today actually from someone called creweapley who give me some useful info on this website but again they are kits - can't do it too difficult.

Does your friend skyline build them to sell to people?

This forum is great and I always find you members very helpful and I do appreciate it

But trying to find someone to build a kit seems to be incredibly difficult I have tried for years actually possibly 20 years or so and had some promising leads only to be let down for one reason or another

Of course I understand it's a skillful task to build one to a decent standed ( I don't expect them to be perfect like farish ready to run models) so I would be happy to offer a decent price as I would think it's very fair someone is rewarded well enough to make it worthwhile or like I have suggested I would offer other N gauge stuff - basically my whole collection is open

If you do know someone who could build a few models then I would definitely be interested, as I would prefer to stay with N gauge I think it's the best scale overall

It's just model railways appeals to everyone is different ways and I would really like to create something from my childhood and it's only possible with certain emus

So that's why I started thinking about OO gauge because you have the class 442 by Britannia models

Then class 423 vep by Hornby, and then the Bachmann stuff, kernow models had an exclusive one as well- looks amazing

Sorry to waffle on but yes I would open up the collection to everyone if I can source this models I would of course show plenty of pics of everything etc

I am thinking of switching from N to OO gauge as it has many more of the models that appeal to me

Question is I have a very large collection in N gauge - mainly modern stuff from 1970s to present day era

Everything from early Poole farish stuff to dcc sound models etc

Not a chance I would ever sell to a retailer or reseller so the obvious place to list would be eBay I guess

I just thought tho if anyone knows who would be interested in doing swaps for N to OO gauge - just an idea and probably a long shot with what I am looking for, still worth an ask

Or alternatively a good place to sell N gauge - would a model railway exhibition be a good idea?

I know a good therapist to help you suppress these urges. ????

Why move OO/HO? Those models look like plastic toys
