Well it looks like a couple of the most notorious "gotta post something even if it's irrelevant/wrong/adds nothing useful, just to run up my post-count" contributors are MIA - that accounts for a 50% reduction straight away... (not that I'm complaining...)

Point taken, but if more mostly-readers posted a little more often, that might even things out.

Interesting posts don't need to be expert or learned - a decent phone photo of a model with a line of two about why you bought it/how you use it will almost certainly initiate a short and positive conversation.

You really shouldn't think that. "Likes" and similar show appreciation and don't pollute the thread with loads of "great stuff!" posts.
