Well it looks like a couple of the most notorious "gotta post something even if it's irrelevant/wrong/adds nothing useful, just to run up my post-count" contributors are MIA - that accounts for a 50% reduction straight away... (not that I'm complaining...)
 

I just put it down to the dry/sunny weather. It'll all go ti pear shaped next week when I do a road trip.

Point taken, but if more mostly-readers posted a little more often, that might even things out.

Interesting posts don't need to be expert or learned - a decent phone photo of a model with a line of two about why you bought it/how you use it will almost certainly initiate a short and positive conversation.

When I've posted recently I've had a few likes but no replies, which makes me think people aren't interested in what I'm posting.  Not much going on anyway on the layout......

I find work gets in the way a lot currently, and I don't have much time for my layout, let alone posting, currently.

You really shouldn't think that. "Likes" and similar show appreciation and don't pollute the thread with loads of "great stuff!" posts.
