I was tempted by the 2-car Green Class 101 until I realised it was the Power-Twin version. Hopefully they will announce a 3-car version in the near future to add to my existing model.

The only thing for me from this announcement is the Era-5 Post Office Sorting Van.

Think my wallet is mostly safe except for the mail coaches.

Got a perfectly good kit built baby deltic and no reasonable excuse to run it either.

Both Fin Park and Stratford diesel depot were newbuilds.

The cl 23s stood outside the works, a different place.

When the EFE class 74 came out in OO a few months ago we were told in no uncertain terms that there was nothing shared from the DJM OO class 71. The reality was a very similar chassis block, bogie towers, and design approach, with thankfully better electronics and motor.

The EFE N gauge Class 17 Clayton, Mermaid ballast wagon and Shark ballast brake van all used existing Dies. The EFE Baby Deltic might have borrowed an unknown amount from the original CAD but as we've never seen anything in the flesh, and it is not derived from any other EFE or DJM design, I would imagine the Graham Muz/Kernow magic will make sure it is more robust than the prototype was, and will last longer than 10 years on our layouts!

I don't believe Kernow/EFE bought the DJM CAD, however I do suspect the Chinese designer went off and copied someone else's work.

It's a model. Isn't that the whole point of a model 

It can be very hard to tell what was copied. I've seen a load of OO gauge kits and RTR models of things like the class 29 that all have the same mistake, but you can often chase the mistakes back down to all using dodgy sources in the first place. My favourite being a book that had a drawing of a class 29 directly opposite a photograph clearly showing the drawing was wrong

Really? Admittedly it wasn't exactly a feast of new releases, but at least they are releasing some useful mainstream items. Have we already forgotten about Toiletgate? 

One depot I never got to. It seemed to be miles from Stratford station, which itself was an Art Deco marvel complete with Clacton Units seemingly doing a ton through the station with no yellow "stand back from the edge" markings at all.

Those were the days.

I meant I felt there were a lot of similarities between the DJM and EFE CAD - and not just the important bits that make it look like a J94. The moldings around the coupling mounting looked identical for example.

That said, I'm very happy with my EFE J94s and hopefully the Baby Deltic will be just as good.

I beleive what Kernow say about origins but, if (when) an accurate well running robust 23 arrives on our layouts towards the back end of the year, who cares? I don't
