I can understand some of the things that have changed. Think back to the 60's and remember how many companies were hiring televisions, and then video recorders. Some people will always want the latest thing, hence mobile phones, cars, etc have, for some, become almost fashion accessories. I gave up buying music a few years back and now share a family Spotify subscription, with (almost) anything I could ever want to hear available at the touch of a button, for a small monthly fee. You pays your money, you takes your choice......

Having watched the video again, I just had to check my version 1 models (3) to see how much the cab/tender movement was. Did not seem to swing apart anywhere near as much as this new version even through a reverse switch.
Also mentioned was the addition of traction tyres for owners to fit if required.
Unless it is tender powered, which did not come through on the video, I would not think the average buyer would want to fiddle with dismantling the conn rod bolts in order to fit tyres.

I have not been near my layout for 3 to 4 months due to gardening, domestic jobs and golf. The latter very badly!
I must say I was very thrilled to find that all locos "tested" performed very well.
I will have to ditch the golf and do more "testing", bound to get more enjoyment!

Any chance the thread title could now be changed to reflect that it's a discussion about the forthcoming new V2, and not a discussion about an announcement?

The new V2 is most definitely loco drive, as to cab tender swing personally I can't think of a reason why they would be hugely different if they are both pretty accurate dimensionally as appears to be the case.

On the subject of traction tyres I have been advised that the locos will actually be delivered with the tyred wheelset fitted and the plain ones will be in the accessory pack.

Some photos of the V2 on James Street at Chatham show this weekend. We were permitted to take photos, but when i asked if we could run it, we were told that we could try, but it was a livery sample with no motor....looked really good. Three liveries on display on the Bachmann stand.

Delivery is expect3d within the next month.

I like the response "You can try to run it" ;D
Vision over visibility. Bono, U2.

A sign of a serious - hopefully now fixed - issue with the models given the delays?

Not a complaint - I'd rather wait for something perfect, although close to £200 is steep, but the new norm  :-\

I think I'll need to see this one in the flesh before I commit. But I hope it's successful for Bachmann.

Having seen them at Chatham they do look lovely locos.....but not for my region! They are a world better than the Poole version. I just hope they pull well, they'd need to do 8 coaches at least.
