Quote from: Browning 9mm on May 16, 2025, 11:37:45 AMquite often I have noticed that they orbit Crowborough, not sure if the army training area is still active there, or been flogged off for development.

Probably just keeping an eye on the locals  :smiley-laughing:

Or looking for a parking space!

One has just rattled our windows at 4pm! We didn't actually see it - it was so low it was hidden behind the trees at the back of our house, probably because the cloud base is very low today.

They not catching the bus home? Nah, just joking.

Last time I rode one, it dropped me off in a clearing in Okinawa.

Not a Chinook, but we had an Apache Longbow low down over us at about 2230 last night from Wattisham.

We used to get lots of these, plus an occasional Chinook, when the troops were in Iraq and Afghanistan, training over the marsh area nearby, but are now quite rare despite being based only about 20 miles away.

We also get a very occasional USAF Osprey playing in the area.

You folks over there have concerns about the Osprey like they do over here in Japan? Okinawans are very quick to protest if an Osprey has one tire down 1 psi or anything. I am sure it is to protest anything about the bases if the opportunity presents itself.
